Have you ever seen Kurosawa's Throne of Blood? It depicts very well the character Lady Macbeth. As for starters always read the source material. Also, if you want to understand the character reading the material itself is key.

Shakespeare's English is overwhelming and difficult?! Yes, it is. Plus, if you want to avoid the text - which I highly admonish you from doing; just consider you have many interpretations from litetary text and movies.

Always avoid reading comments, because art is about having multiple interpretations.

Art is always greater than the commentaries when it is grand. Aside from all of this, I just say that going for the original source will give you less headaches and you will surely spend much less time than reading billions of sidenotes, etc.
