I really enjoyed this first episode though I sort of wish they had gone in with a School Live approach instead of making it clear from the very first scene what was going to happen (not that they hadn't already given it away in the pre-release info as well of course). Solid stuff and I can't see myself not watching this one all the way through.

Plus, it asks the really important questions like:

Funny story, I actually ran a Princess: The Hopeful campaign a couple of years back and quite a few sessions had the girls getting into it with the yakuza, etc. However not all their interactions were hostile; I specifically set up a few missions where they had to ally with known criminals and gang members to test their beliefs and see if they were willing to put aside their negative opinions of them and cooperate against a greater evil. It was quite entertaining.(If you don't know what Princess: The Hopeful is, it's a White Wolf/World of Darkness fanmade race system that lets you play as a magical girl in World of Darkness games)

I love a good magical girl anime, whether bright and happy or dark and gritty. On the whole, I thought the set up in episode 1 did a good job and left me wanting to see just what would happen next and how bad it would get. As an anime only, as I haven't read the source material for this, which I'll save for after the anime concludes. I do love the art style, though the mascara in chibi form can be a little much, its not enough to ruin my enjoyment and I'll stay on board with this one.

Episode 2

Fav sure did mess up big time forming way too many contracts not realizing the situation. So the objective is to collect magical candies by doing good deeds, and whoever gets the least is terminated. So the competition begins with Calamity Mary out for blood against Ripple and Top Speed. Snow White is the top candy getter, and the first girl eliminated is Nemurin as she stayed in her room all this time. But my god, that was pretty cruel to just be laying lifeless there. That was an interesting way to approach this with the magical girls working together like that, and it sets the stage for so much pain.

From the roster so far, I'm guessing Calamity Mary will have the antagonist role given her malevolent-like personality.

I thought latest episode was rather weird? Like the death game itself makes sense but I'm not sure I find the competitors to be appealing. In the meantime, every girl seems to have their own unique abilities. Magical candy or whatever also seems to be part of the death game's mechanic..

I have a feeling this show is going to lose me when all these girls turn on each other, just not what something I'm looking to watch...oh well.

While I was kind of expecting a gruesome death, the slowly fade to black and lifeless body being discovered worked really well. The mom's reaction to her daughter's lifeless body showed the severity of the situation that the other girls were in and the loss it will potentially put onto others.

Episode 2

After last week announcement of magical girls being cut in half they need to collect candy and the one with less stops being one. We see when Top speed first meets Ripple and that Calamity Mary is someone to look out for. We also meet Nemurin a magical girl who helps people in their dreams and who gets along with anyone. Fav announces that Nemurin loses since she must help people in real life not just dreams and her fellow magical girls say goodbye to her. At first it looked like not being a magical would be a bad thing but things turn bad when Numrins mother finds her lifeless body.

I actually wanted to see more of Nemurin.

Episode 2

Ohp, and we got the gimmick with this one!

I was wondering how they were going to hook up in since we knew something bad was going to happen.

Considering the very first minute of the anime, it was obvious we wouldn't wait long for the other shoe to drop so I figured someone might already die in this episode.

I was expecting an overly gruesome death with no subtlety, but I was actually impressed by how it was a genuine downer. Just as Nemurin was about to get her life together, she passes (assumingly) peacefully and while we don't see her lifeless body completely, we get to see her mom discovering it. Now that hurts.

The rest of the episode felt a little messy and awkwardly paced and I doubt this series will be great in the long run, but for now it keeps me curious to see what happens next.

well the game start as we find that Fav has to cut down on the number of magical girls cause due to he's bad at math

People have to do good deeds and stuff we get to meet a few of the other magical girls out there. I like Top Speed.

and of course one had to drop and a boy to they drop out!

..shit going to hit the fan when the rest of the magical girls find out when there at the bottom..

I guarantee Calamity Mary is going to kill someone.

So episode 2 still has me on board with this.

Unlike most others, I initially didn't see much about this that warranted a comparison to Madoka Magica, as everything in episode 1 was still fairly standard affair for a "magical girl show with a twist". Here we get some mechanics that start to warrant such a comparison though.

As for the characters, I find them unique and eye-catching, but surprisingly not very compelling (except for Snow White and possibly La Pucelle).. I think this is just a problem I have with the survival game genre as a whole. It seems that few characters will be important enough to warrant the show spending time on explaining their ideologies as magical girls. Nemurin came and went before I even really knew who she was.

Still very excited to see where this goes. It's clear that they're setting up for the inevitable "game", but as I said, I do hope that there will be more to it than just that. But if not, so be it. I'm sure it will be entertaining either way.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.....that was a load of BS, good ep (towards the end, the start had me snoozing a bit), but come on, Nemu was doomed from the start with this candy points crap. Her powers couldn't be more useless in obtaining , real points...seriously, dream helping only gets dream points?? I don't even know what real world analogy I could use for this with how miffed I am at the system.

And then you have Snow White, who couldn't be more damn rigged to win for this system...she already knows where to go and what to do, and rack up points insanely D= .Aye Nemu, fack this pon with a Bag Of CACKS!

Anyway looking forward to next week when things should start getting crazy when those at the bottom realize they might have to start killing whoever is above them. Seriously tho this system, more rigged than the political system shesh.

Well this one will be interesting at the very least. Curious about some of the competitors and the whole real reason why. Also, this thing is totally rigged in a way. Snow White's power gives her best advantage to get candies, Nemurin's gave her the weakest power to get candies. Plus I gotta wonder what with that other girl saying she didn't get any,...

Now, when does this turn to a bloodbath?

Maybe she was tied with Nemurin at zero and Fav flipped a coin to see which one of them lost. Or maybe she's secretly hiding the number of candies she got for some reason. I don't know. I just find it odd that she apparently didn't get any candies. With Nemurin, we at least spent some time seeing her powers and learning how useless it is for obtaining real candies.

Anyways, I was not expecting a silent death with no witnesses. I wonder how the others are going to learn about what's really at stake.
