lmao when I saw Ripple I thought of Metal Gear Rising for some reason.

Come on Swim Swim you could of at least killed Alice in her house or something. Not in the middle of the road then to back alley.

She would have transformed because outside of peoples' view.

So, simply because episode 10 was getting so intense, I decided to read the original story (from the light novels) to get some closure.

Without spoiling ANYTHING, I can safely say this anime will have a satisfying conclusion. I mean, if they drastically change the ending I'm wrong, but so far this adptation has not only been faithful, but also adding to the original light novels (characters such as Nemurin and The Peaky Angels didn't have backstories in the first arc, for example).

What I've loved throughout is the fact that very often death feels random, but realistic. There have been a couple where you could see it coming - heck, we were getting Hardgore Alice's backstory while she was in the process of being killed! - but for the most part the deaths are sudden and are often the result of either carelessness or simply not being a strong enough magical girl in a given situation.

Also, I don't know why but they made Snow White even more of a wimp for the anime. In the light novels she doesn't exactly do much better, but she does at least get visibly angry about the death game instead of just crying about it. She even lets out a lot of her frustration at Fav, even if Fav just carries on being the snide little ball of evil he is. I think the reason it didn't translate over is that most of the time this is happening inside Snow White's head, instead of spoken out loud. But it's okay, in comparison to most underpowered MCs at least Snow White IS trying.

But yeah, my overall opinion of this series is that bar some very minor issues it's a pretty flawless story and I've truly had a great time with it.
...I'm also prepared to cry a fair bit for these next few episodes.

Anime is cutting (like every anime, it's normal) and changing a few things (including some it shouldn't have) but not really adding. The things you didn't see in the first novel that are here in the anime are in the fourth novel instead, that's why.

And there goes my favorite....

Swim Swim has kill Winterprison, Top Speed, and now Hardgore Alice. I hope her winning streak ends with Cranberry. On the other hand, Cranberry killed La Pucelle and is responsible for this death game in the first place.

Cranberry is an incredibly dangerous fighter. Swim Swim has a nice weapon, but she doesn't have much in the way of fighting skills, just a good defense. Tama is nearly useless. Also, Cranberry is the main villain, so you would expect her to be in the climax against the heroes (Ripple and Snow White).

So I voted against my favorite character, Cranberry. Because Team Swim Swim does have a way to kill her, and Ripple really wants to make Swim Swim pay for Top Speed's death.

Episode 10

The other twin tells Swim Swim the identity of Alice and attacks her while going to school. Not only that but we get some background on Ako and that her dad killed her mother. Its much worse when Swim Swim fatally wounds her and as she is dying she calls out to Snow White who happens to hear her. Koyuki arrives just in time to find Ako wounded and is given the rabbits foot and some words of encouragement before dying in her arms. Team Swim Swim on the other hand work together to kill Cranberry, but it's much harder than they thought as she's only playing with them. Cranberry kills the last twin like nothing and next target is Tama and Swim Swim.

I would like to believe that but no she's dead. She passed on the rabbit's foot which she always wanted to give to Snow White.

Tfw your fave kills your other fave and then next episode begins by killing your other other fave and the new episode kills your other other other fave and now you're not sure if they're your fave anymore cause you loved your other three faves and it's totally your only fave left's fault but without your fave you are significantly less interested in watching the rest so anyways seeing as Swim Swim's my only fave left #I'mwithherIguess

I feel that a lot of light novel series would better benefit from a movie adaptation. When it comes to TV anime, there's the matter of stretching the content over 12 episodes which can make it feel like the plot is dragging on, like it did with Rokka no Yuusha, while a movie can allow things to flow better. I guess the only issue with that is making movies cost a significant amount of effort and money.

The deaths really were at random, however the anime made them a bit too predictable by including a backstory the same episode they would die, Ripple and the twins being the exception. But throughout the series the deaths are quite unexpected and gut-wrenching. I'll be honest, the third volume had me in shock for the second half with how brutal it was, and I would consider myself to be quite unshakable when it comes to character deaths. Hopefully this season finishes strong, and that the future volumes get adapted better

I'm probably wrong, but I think it would be great (and poetic) if somehow Tama ended up killing Swim-Swim. I mean, with Swim-Swims ability it will be basically impossible for anyone to take her out if she can see them coming but a weak girl who she trusts but has the sort of ability perfect for surprises.

Yeah my bad, I'm only up to about midway in the second novel so far, I literally started reading them last night. I tried to say that, from what I read in the first novel, they made a surprising amount of changes to it.

I had a pretty strong hunch that they wrote about the other characters in later volumes though ^_^

One I actually quite liked was the fact that in the anime they get to choose if they get to be magical girls, and obviously all of them do. From what I read in the light novels they had to become magical girls, no questions asked. I just felt that doing it that way removes any sense of regret from the characters because that would have meant they are 100% victims to this death game.
