i guess some get addicted with gaming coz it makes them feel like they're someone else... like when they play a character it gives them the illusion that they really are the ones living an exciting life.

i guess what i'm saying is that people get addicted to gaming to escape their own life and to entertain themselves from boredom...

haha!!! -_-

Hmm...maybes =X

Its gaming and anime addiction though, so idk. Im leavin it kinda open cause these things kinda run into each other.

Sometimes a person is addicted to an anime and move onto the game, becomming addicted to that purely cause its frm the anime they were addicted to x.x (Im not saying that its on purpose, I dont think anyone intentionally gets addicted =/)

I think these 2 reasons make up most of the gaming population:

1) Video/computer games provide the most sensory/mental stimulation with the least amount of physical effort. (basically televisions that require a bit more work yet providing more stimulation)

2) It's like a great day dreaming scenario or something that people use to get away from everyday stress. If you have a privately aggressive shooting personality, you play shooting games. If you want to role play and go on adventures and see pretty shit; you might play games like Final Fantasy(I think FF1-3 are basically not included since it merely covered a storyline and adventure. FFVII was the game that pushed FF over the emo limit. (Not that it was a bad game. It was great game. It just attracted all the romantic/emo/drama people who didn't really care about the gaming value of a "game". Merely the story and pretty people. )

Lol, hate FF much? xD

Computer games provide a 'get-a-way', a simulated world where players can do things they cant or wouldnt in reality, without the consequences as well. This has caused lots of hype about how people are becomming anti-social cause of games =/ I disagree here, I go out with more people who like the same stuff, if they didnt, I prolly would never have met them =/

We all play similar games and like the same animes =P so yeah, we go out alot and talk about em ^_^

It's like how some people just get so obsessed that they do nothing else and become fat from playing too long. I don't understand that. It becomes an addiction when you put off daily chores and stuff like a job for it, though I don't think you could measure that.

I'm not addicted!

Mhm, agreed. And yes, several people have died from playing online games too much o.o One was playing WOW xD
One guy played a game for 3 days straight in an internet cafe and just dropped dead =/
Look it up on Wikipedia, its got a few good examples that are backed up by news reports there.

lol thats funny...feel sorry for the owner of the internet cafe^^

yeh, i heard something like that and apparently his parents took away his computer or something so he jumped out his window and killed himself O.o

gaming addictions are pretty bad but if you can make the most of the obsession like get a job dealing with games or become a programmer or something then it's not so bad. but mygod i will NEVER touch WOW =.=

What I heard was that he was trying to emulate the MC entrance and jumped out his window, witch led the Blizzard adding a crystal that people can use to enter MC.... (I am sure that made total sense to you..)

I don't know if you would say I am addicted to games. The game I play most is WoW. Over 3+ years I have probably spent about 4800 hours playing. That might sound like a lot, but compared to some others out there, it's not that much.

Yeah, thats the main reason most ppl preferre online interacting. Cause its easy, safe (in the way of people not knowing you etc xD) and irl kinda blows sometimes ><

Ya think its still socialising though? Some people think that its a type of artificial socialising and not real, but methinks maybe its justa different type of socialising, not nearly as good as irl, but still interaction.

you can tell you are addicter when
1: you cant stop playing till either you lose or you are forced to stop
2: you hear a voice from the thing you addicted to telling you to keep playing
3: all you can talk about is your addiction
4: grades and academic abilities go down
5: you sign up for sites that feed that thing to you (like crunchyroll)
6: Powerloss pisses you off cause you cant feed the addiction
7: you talk like your addiction
i mean no offence to annyone in this post so dont blame me if you cry
