You can have a more equitable society without giving out large amounts of money. Actually making both higher education and trade education affordable would be a good start. Those with no skills in the modern economy are severely punished with low wages and non existent benefits due to recent competition with modern day slave labor. Those of the working poor and lower middle class are having a harder and harder time being able to afford the necessary education and skill training to escape that lifestyle and something needs to be done so that there is better class mobility.

There would be a significant increase in the baby population. If they get the money right when they're born, won't the parent just take it? How would the money be generated in the first place? Would everyone's taxes just keep going up and up? Not a big fan of this idea.

It would make more sense to aim for a universal basic income than to just plop an arbitrary amount of money into everyone's hands in one lump sum on one occasion and call it a day. That's not going to solve much.

Terrible idea. It sounds immensely short-sighted, and, without even the faintest of clarification, sounds all the more like a pipe dream.

I agree with a universal basic income you can eliminate welfare, the minimum wage and better help the poor at the same time. However, due to both parties believing in incrementalism, we got a few hundred years to go until they consider it a "realistic" idea...

When you turn such big values to everyone, the value of one million dollars will drop.
So now everyone became "rich"... while in reality they didn't.
If by this you are giving it to everyone?

Bad idea. If the government provided up to 600,000 dollars for college then all degrees would cost that much plus fees no matter where or in what field the degree is in. The idea that people can only ever have what the government gives them is a totalitarians wet dream and the worst parts of communism and socialism. Some people will want more and some people will be happy with less but it is up to each individual to make that decision. We have this going to a degree already. Government subsidies for food and housing are not hand ups they are hand outs. Yes it lets people live at some basic level and seems compassionate but all it does is give something to people without earning or working for it and takes away any reason for improving ones life. When you get a place to live and vouchers for food at a job that doesnt pay enough to live in that apartment or buy that food in the first place the system gets abused. The only reason the poor have to do better is when that lifestyle is viewed as not good enough and they start wanting to improve their life.

Just giving people money that they dont work for or have to pay doesn't just affect their lives it changes the entire economy.

Money is not everything

Sure helps. It all depends.

And then, there are others...
