So back when Funimation got a hold of Bandai Visual USAs shows, only Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass and Escaflowne have been touched(there may of been 1 or 2 I'm missing). Anyone think they are interested in any of the titles and plan to release them at a latter date, some titles like Tales of The Abyss The Animation would actually be able to get a dub. Or they had to get them all together and they have no interest in any of them? Did they even make any announcements I may have missed.

I believe it is a problem obtaining the materials for these titles. As you may recall, Sentai also announced a number of these acquisitions, and they have yet to release or schedule a single one of those.

In comparison, Funimation managing 4 (5 if you count both parts of Code Geass separately, as the announcement does) from their announced titles doesn't look so bad.

thats been a burning question of mine for a while. why are the materials so hard to get? I mean it shouldnt take three years to send something overseas. does sunrise not care about keeping their end of the deal? or is sunrise really bad at keeping things in order?

From what I've observed, Japanese companies don't do much in the way of re-releases, so they probably don't do a very good job of keeping track of the materials to master a new release. The income to them for an overseas license of previously released material (for the most part, Sacred Seven being one exception) is marginal, so I wouldn't be surprised if they only had some low paid worker or intern working on getting them together on a "time available" basis.

I only hope that the license clock for Funimation and Sentai doesn't start ticking until those materials are actually delivered.

I really comes down to the problem of dealing with what is essentially a monopoly supplier. While there are other companies that license out titles, any specific title is normally licensed by only one company. Push too hard, and they can easily decide they would rather deal with another company instead.

Thank you, Sunrise seem to be really interested in getting Gundam over to the west. I'm surprised at a lack of interest in some other titles. That said those 2 shows listed by goku8399 were Sunrise, so maybe the problem is with BONES. Which is shame as a lot of their early work 00-07 was their best work.

They are also releasing Sword of the Stranger in November I believe, which was another Bandai title. Would be far more excited if I didn't actually just find a practically new copy for $5 locally, but it's an incredible movie so hopefully it does well with this new release.

It's coming out in the UK later in the year, this same company sub-licenses from Funimation, as it's cheaper and is why I'm hoping these other titles get a NA re-release as it increases odds of a UK re-release. So Funimation could cut costs and time and just sub-licenses from them.

Speak of the devil, when I went to ANN this morning before coming here, there was a surround ad for its November 28 release from All The Anime. I thought that a bit odd considering I was looking at the US/Canada version of the site.
