Well they put six of us in this elaborate room with a obstacle course (think the danger room in the X-men) and said the last man standing gets the job. It was a really interesting way to get the job and now I travel all over the world under my code name 00BS. I am the second most interesting man alive....right after that dos equis guy.

Okay, it wasn't really that interesting but who wants to hear about turning in an application, having a boring interview and then getting the job because you threatened your employer with embarrassing photographs you purchased of them by their arch-nemesis?

Applied, had a phone interview 2 weeks later - interview went well. Then heard nothing for two months. Then I got a job offer, filled out a bunch of paperwork, and started a month after that.
Yes - there were two months where I didn't hear anything. But it's the federal government, so everything takes forever (especially since it was a recent graduate program, so it didn't go through the normal channels).

In a very classical way. Like right out of a Depression Era short.

The pharmacy had a sign out saying Help Wanted. I grabbed the sign, went to the manager, and asked for a job. I filled out the app, got the drug test, and they did the background check that night and next day I was hired.

Engineer, family friend showed up to one of my track meets and told me years before applying for a job if I ever needed one to give here a call after I graduate. Fast forward years later, 30-40 job applications in I finally remembered the offer, lmao. Landed the job soon after and immediately gave 2 weeks notice to the dead end job I was working at the time. To be fair my resume was also a lot stronger than other applicants and probably would have landed the job either way, had almost 4 years experience working in factories in the same industry (aerospace) in one capacity or another before I even graduated college, which is unheard of for someone of that age.

Software developer building cloud applications. Got here because I like programming and working on large software projects. Started out as a part timer during college for extra cash, but eventually ended up a full timer several companies later. Have been doing so ever since; someday I'll finish college...

Graphic designer. Long story short: I applied and was sent a test after a phone interview. Even though I know doing a test is a big no-no, I did it because I was desperate. I had been looking for over five years. The test was vectorizing several images. At the time, there was also a convention I was at, so I was running around the convention during the day then at night would go home and work for hours on the images thinking the entire time how pointless this was.

But it wasn't pointless because I got the job! Started a 30 day "trial" period and then was kept permanently. I was very lucky that I was working part time at a small gallery and my boss at the time was fine with me doing the 30 day trial.

Now I've been at this job for three years, a ton has changed, and I hate it... But I get my work done and make decent pay and benefits so I'm stuck for now.

Social Work Intern

Technically not a job, but it's what I'll be doing until I complete the master's program and have time for full time paid work. Specifically, I get people into treatment for their substance abuse issues, and help prevent relapses when they finish treatment.
