Edit: nevermind. The darn wording fooled me. It can't be suspension of diplomatic relations but must be the stopping of Syrian talks

An airstrike last month hit a United Nations humanitarian aid convoy, killing 20 people. The United States has accused Russia of hitting the convoy, but both Russia and Syria deny it.

Monday's announcement came just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin suspended a Russia-U.S. deal on the disposal of weapons-grade plutonium, in a move that also underscored rising tensions between Washington and Moscow.

Putin's decree cited Washington's "unfriendly actions" and the United States' inability to fulfill its obligations under the 2000 deal as reasons for the move. Under the agreement, which was expanded in 2006 and 2010, Russia and the U.S. each were to dispose of 34 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium, enough material for about 17,000 nuclear warheads.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said patience had run out with Russia.

Nothing to salvage, or a mere continuation of Cold War II?

well nostradamus did predict that nuclear war would happen in the early 21st century that was caused either by tensions in the middle east or over water. Looks like were right on track

Yep, I'm not surprised either. This has been coming for a while.

The fact that the two countries even managed to come to agreement in Syria last month was already a miracle. A partnership between the two will never last as long as both countries are run by people who still believe we're living in the 1960's.

Putin's taking a scorched earth approach to "returning Russia to glory"

Now he's either playing smart by looking dangerously crazy or he's actually dangerously crazy

It's probably another instance of scaring people by holding out a grenade

If nothing's for show then things can go completely south in no time

Putin's smart, he sees non-Nato's allies as free land up for grabs and will continue to annex it to expand the power and international influence of Russia. He knows damn well that no major power wants to be bothered going to war with them. If I lived in a neighboring country outside of the military alliance I'd be quite worried right now.

The guy took over Crimea without firing a single gun. While what he did was wrong, how he did it made it look ridiculously easy.
