*Slams face into the earths crust*
Sir, may I take your fedora and put it on the coat rack over there?

In fact sir, I would argue that the anime from your decade was garbage.
The REAL winners were from the 50-60's. Heck, what am I saying. Scratch that, the 20's was the TRUE golden age for animation.
None of this colour BS, everything was done by hand, simple stories that were easy to follow, none of these crazy story lines... everything should just stay the same forever. Because I say so.

I know that you're being facetious but even so you won't find anyone here criticising anime of the 50's-60's just because they like anime in the 80's or 90's or early 00's. Because this isn't about when you where your born or when you first discovered anime. This is about a discernible decline in the quality of anime in recent years. Metrics for this problem are seen in the lack of different genres being made today. Quality is being sacrificed for the sake of quantity and it's slowly killing the industry. Long gone is the ambition that made anime famous the world over, now new shows are just puerile trash of the most perverse kind.

I don't think it's declining, it's changing with the times. There's gold and garbage in every era. Why does this topic keep getting brought up? Almost as bad as "Is xxxx saving anime?"

Well the OP he mentions Yuyu Hakusho and DBZ as good anime and that today's are shit, but lists Attack on Titan (which I thought was garbage) as a favorite...
-I would add that DBZ is still around.
-I saw some of Yu yu Hakusho back in the day and wasn't real impressed by it, it seemed kind of mediorcre. Personal opinions aside, there were plenty of more successful anime from that era.
-If sarcasm is the only defense one can come up with for today's anime, then that's not good news for today's anime.
-There can't be a decline of the industry when so much anime is being made and aired on TV. And licensed directly to America, Canada and the UK instantly. The industry is surely bigger today than it has ever been.
-There is good anime from any era, but the list of what is considered great by anyone need not be (and should not be) a long one.

Something you may find shitty someone may like that's how it goes.

There is always something good to watch.

I agree.

But quality comes in the writing and adaptation or execution and we know which one they are no matter what genre it is.
and they are but a few and its always been that way.

I just hate that it seems everything I like gets cancelled!

1. Find series and really like it
2. Watch season 1 in a day
3. Find out there is no season 2 and never will be
4. Die a little inside
5. Repeat

I doubt OP even watched good anime back in the 90s or early 00s. The only half decent thing mentioned was Kenshin, which I love, but it is not that great.

No mention of Utena, FLCL, Bebop, Lain, EVA? Even Trigun was better than most of his list.

This isn't a nostalgia thread, it's a bad taste thread.
