I feel like this movie that probably should've been a 13 or 12 episode series. I felt like a lot was missing and some romances from the series didn't really come together. Some of them did in the ending credits it seemed or so I interpreted it that way.

Overall the movie was cute and the characters were great and relatable on some levels.

I've Always Liked You (Movie) 10/10

Yes this score is extremely biased cause Honeyworks and my god the music, as always was great. When Byoumei Koiwazurai came on in the concert I dropped my laptop cause it was just that hype.

The story is fairly basic, it doesn't do anything surprising, but it does what needs to be done, and does it in a good way. The characters are also very lovable.

I'm just glad to see this in anime form, although I do enjoy the moving still shots that they do with the songs but this works out great. Honeyworks never disappoints me with their music, also with another movie planned I look forward to that.

Final Thoughts on the Movie

Well as I have stated before, I loved the movie. Even in such a short time frame they managed to build 3 relationships and make it seem satisfying enough to know that the ships are going to sail. Sure Natsuki and Yu got most of the development but managing to also include Akari and Miou's romances in was quite the feat and I thought that they executed that very well. They even teased at Hina's romance there at the end. Was honestly expecting "Ima Suki ni Naru" to play and keep it going but alas the run time was running out. In the credits they did show a little more of Haruki and Miou's story through the traditional still shots which was nice. Almost teared up cause it's like we got another story at the end in addition to what we got. The animation was pretty good for the most part and of course, as I've said a million times already, the music was perfect. It's not surprising at all but if you are looking for a nice romance to watch then I'd definitely recommend this movie as it leaves you with this warm fuzzy feeling inside after you complete it. Can't wait for the next one.

Here's the song in question for concert (I think, don't have headset right now):

I wonder where I can get the songs from the movie. There were definitely some new songs in the movie...

Also heard Tokyo Summer Session near the start of the movie.

I really enjoyed this movie, it was cute and with great music. (And I tend to hate musicals :3)

That being said, when they just crammed other characters' stories down our throats on the ending sequence it felt a little awkward. Like the other love stories didn't matter...

There will be sequels? I really hope so. 'Cus if not is gonna be kinda disappointing it ended that way.

8/10

Does this have a frustrating unresolved cliffhanger with the main characters relationship? I haven't watched it yet, just curious

I watched this shortly after it came to Crunchy and kept forgetting to visit this thread. I did not like the music at all, and since it appears the music was maybe the reason for the movie, that's kind of not good. (But seems like others liked the music, so I guess it's just me).

However, I liked the romance stories a lot. They felt real and fun with just real-life mini drama crap, and that worked. But, OMG, I cringed at the first redacted confession. Clueless girl, no idea how mean that was. But that's mostly normal teen insecurity for you I guess.

I'll be happy to see a sequel, even if I do have to put up with music I don't like.
