It seems both video and audio of the first episode of Yuri!!! on ICE are very poor. It's unwatchably blurry and I can barely hear it. This is only the case for this show (I checked others on the app) and only on the Roku Crunchyroll app. It is working fine on my browser.

It'll be better in anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Distribution of the higher res files in all the various languages takes longer.

That's interesting. I've been using the Roku app for almost a year and have never encountered this issue before. Missing subtitles, sure, but never video/audio quality like this. I just checked again and it does seem to have improved somewhat.

Yeah it's gotten a lot better in the last year (or possibly 2). That used to happen all the time, which is why I know about it. Now it only happens if they get the source material from a supplier too late to prepare and distribute everything. It takes a long time to prepare 4 resolutions of hard encoded subs for multiple languages in each resolution, and then in multiple video formats for the different devices (Roku reads a different type of file than Apple TV, for example). I usually just watch something else for about an hour after a show releases instead of trying to be right on top of the bleeding edge of release. It's just a smoother viewing experience.
