Episode 2

And right away, Gion wants to do some tackling, so he tries to do it on Sekizen, and he fails hard. So he has some special training if he wants another crack at him, and he does that and takes him down with his last try. Great sense of accomplishment there for Gion seeing that he's short and a total beginner. Well, that was decent, but I'm starting to lose interest in this seeing that this episode focused only on the practice and not really about the other stuff the characters go through in life. I'll give it one more episode, but with the number of great sports shows this season that I'll probably pass on this.

Being a New Zealander, rugby is my favourite sport and I'm really enjoying the build early on as they get closer to a game. I have not been disappointed by the attention to detail of the sport so far.

I'm sure character development will come, the anime does need to focus on the sport a bit as well as the wider audience won't be as familiar with the sport of rugby compared to say basketball, soccer or baseball.

Oh boy, I hope Gion learned something from watching that game. Keijo (lol, funny name considering there's an anime of the same name this season) is a powerhouse school with guys juiced with muscles.

Then again, some guys got determination to face them and I gotta admire them a bit for that.

I do like how they keep repeating that rugby is a 'gentleman's sport'.

I'll admit I can see the sloppiness in their game, so I can't wait for them to start flowing and slowly change the tide of the game

Also yes Tall Kurapika!

This continues to be pretty standard as far as sports anime go, but it's nonetheless consistantly well made. I do like how an even more violent version of Football is called a gentleman's sports

Poor shorty got denied of his first game haha

It's not too far fetched for Rugby scores, I'm sure it's pretty common everywhere for high school leagues.

This is what most of the games in high school looked like for the school I went to. I don't think we let another school in our district ever get to double digits, but a decent amount of games ended with the other school getting 0. I wasn't a starter, but I did get to play a lot (loved playing winger for tries, but loved in/out center even more for tackling). I think the only game we lost was the finals for a provincial tournament.

It is pretty crazy how fit these guys are, too.

Episode 3

It may not be Keijo (which can only be played by girls), but playing Keijo High School, those boys got their asses kicked showing just how big the talent gap is between those two programs, all while Gion could only watch on the sidelines, and for good reason as he doesn't even know all the rules. They realize just how much they need to learn seeing that they were just out of their league. Well, that was solidly laid out there, but it was pretty much almost all action and not much backstory, which is not exactly what I had in mind when it comes to sports shows. I was getting bored and with a number of other sports shows out there this season that I'll say that I'm out.
