Episode 3

Here comes the Ends led by the Black King, and he is out to eradicate the world that has been plagued by Drifters. The army attacks the Northern wall and they didn't even break a sweat in in taking over it. Meanwhile, Hannibal manages to escape the warzone thanks to the timely arrival of another Drifter to take down the dragon. While the fight was great, I wonder how things tie into the story as Toyohisa didn't appear in this episode and it was mostly about the Ends.

Shit is getting real! That's what I was waiting for; more historic figures from different countries in an all out war. That foul mouthed pilot was pretty entertaining and I can't wait for Hannibal and that mustached cowboy to show what they can do.

Seeing some clear differences already between the Ends and the Drifters. I think it has to do with the moment of death, did you accept your end or did you curse it. Look at Joan of Arc. That woman is pissed off and hates the world. A sharp difference from her history, but it's a change you could see when you consider how she was betrayed at the end.

Where as our Drifters seem to be more "Well, F'k it. I had a good run."

Judging from the tactics used by our Black King's army I'm placing him around WW2, I mean we have magic-radio co-ordination of devisions, air force, air-dropped propoganda. These are not tactics you would see from a fantasy world setting. And when you are going with Big Evil from WW2, there is a particular pool of people everyone seems to look at, so I'm thinking the Black King is from that inner circle if not the Big Chair itself.

How many of them were crucified on a cross? I ask because if you look closely at the Black Kings hand he has the wounds one would see if the were hang on the cross.

I don’t think he’s going to be named as any specific person in history, just kinda a mix of different people from his imagery. Personally, my first thoughts were that he was a representation of Odin with the raven at his shoulder, the eye symbol across the moon, rope burns across his arms from when he was sacrificed on Yggdrasil and dragonfly symbol which often depicted wisdom. Some of those symbols though are represented in other characters as well, like the eye and the dragonfly could also represent Egyptian god Horus, and others might view the scars as representing Jesus of Nazareth.

you thinking an Evil Christ? Interesting idea but damn it would piss a lot of folks off

There has to be some modern military in his ranks though. Those tactics are clearly 20th century

I read the manga and where we are in the English translation the Blacklord's identity hasn't been revealed yet but I think most readers are assuming he is Jesus.

From the flags that they showed a "hero" from the holy roman empire is missing in there, or it might be the black king himself.
