Synopsis

"We're friends forever!"
She treasures her memories of her old friend from when she was little, Morikawa Chinatsu,
and she's excited at the prospect of meeting her again.

But when she gets to school, she finds she has trouble fitting in with the rest of the class.

One day, she decides that if she learns to play the card game Wixoss, she might be able to make some friends. She stops at a card shop on her way home and buys a deck set. When she takes the set home and opens it, the girl on one of the cards begins to move, and speak.
"Welcome, Selector."
Humans chosen as Selectors must battle for control of the five coins that hold all their memories.
If they can retake all the coins, they win, and can leave the game. But if they lose, as a penalty--

"Lostorage"-- What will become of Suzuko as she's caught up in this insane game?

And just like Suzuko, Chinatsu finds herself drawn into the game as well...

Episode 1

And back to Ikebukuro goes Suzuko, but it's not exactly a happy homecoming as she's struggling to make friends. So she goes take on Wixoss where a nasty surprise awaits as she has been chosen to be a selector. She must win to turn all five coins gold to restore her persona, but all five turning black means she disappears. And thus, the beginning of another roller coaster of trauma with Suzuko starting out against someone who only battles beginners as she unleashes her coin skill to pull off the win. That was a solid start as it sets the stage for Suzuko to go through a lot.

Episode 1

Suzuko moves back to Ikebukuro after moving away for a couple years due to her dads job. In school she has trouble making friends and see's that Wixoss is very popular among her classmates, so decides to buy a deck. At home while going over the rules and checking out the card art she notices the LRIG card and see's that it comes to life. The LRIG tells her she has been chosen as a selector and that she will have to battle in order to get her memories back or disappear. Next day she meets another selector a girl with glasses and later a guy who preys on beginners. The guy is the first to battle Suzuko and even though she had a bad start she was able to win due to a coin skill. The final scene we see her childhood friend meet her LRIG.

The new things in Lostorage is that girls aren't the only ones that can be selectors but now guys can. The battle field has changed from what it looked like in the first two seasons. Also they made it more difficult as in the original you had three chances from the start but in Lostorage you lose one and it's game over. Selectors even have a time limit really harsh. One thing I noticed is that we might have a character from the original series coming back but this time as a selector. If that's the case then maybe we might see Ru and Tama?

Look familiar?

Hmmm, this is certainly different from other card game shows I've seen. It kinda does have that dark Madoka Magica feel to it.

I enjoyed the concept and setup of this one but the actual card battle part was not particularly good. It wasn't all that exciting and the rules themselves weren't explained (and the MC went from knowing nothing to knowing a lot pretty much instantly). I really could have done without the card battle at all or at least the card battle could have just been played out like a fight in, say, the Fate series and it would have been much better. Still, I'll give it some time because there were elements I did quite enjoy.

What was the significance the card she selected at the beginning? The one with a 1 on it.

This season has a lot of unlucky MC's lol lots of people turning into something or being pulled into another world for a fight with their lives on the line, and they did little to nothing to warrant such lol feelsbad

A pretty decent first episode to start off this new series. It appears to be a major improvement over the first with more defined rules and with a larger cast, with guys included this time around. Hopefully this turns out much better than its predecessors.

I imagine it was a game of chance to determine how many coins she starts off with, meaning she got unlucky by starting off with only one

WELCOME TO THE SHADOW GAMES!!!

No, I mean, it's time to d-d-d-d-due-no, wait...

WRONG SHOW; NVM!!

In all seriousness, I'm looking forward to WIXOSS, but I do have a few issues that might be keyed in on later.

That's what i thought at first but like.. that's too unfortunate haha. If you were lucky enough to draw like 3 coins to start with...gg wp lol what if you just stomp the first 2 chumps who cross your path and this whole card game of death was just a mild inconvenience haha

I should say that i haven't seen/heard/read anything else in this series, this is my only exposure

At first I thought this was like a prequel show because in this one the LRIGs start out literally as blank slates whereas in the old show the LRIGs were already established. But then during the Selector battle this episode they showed a battle table from the old show broken down and covered in plants. This is now very clearly a sequel with the Selector battle starting up again seemingly on its own this time which explains why the "prize" this time seems to merely be getting free of the game and having all your memories intact. None of this granting wishes stuff. Also explains why dudes can be Selectors now.

A standard 1st episode that set the stage; there was the MC introduction and they quickly got down to business after just a little character background. Not a fan of the childhood friend thing or transfer thing, but maybe they plan on adding a dark twist later on. I do get the feeling that we'll be seeing a clone copy of Selector Wixoss, with several elements already being recycled. I do like that they add unexpected twists to the rules, but apart from that, not much is different. One thing I've always liked about the series is the art, and they really improved in that area. I really liked the scenery in the battle scene. I really want to see how this one sets itself apart, on to episode 2 we go.

Ep 1

I've never seen any of the Wixoss series but thought that this first episode was surprisingly good, especially for a card game show. I think that the battle itself was slightly confusing (although that may be my own fault) but I do like the story and the reasons for fighting. The LRIGs have cool designs too. So yeah, for my first exposure to the series I'm pretty content.

I am obliged to recommend the prior two Wixoss series (Selector Infected and Selector Spread) to anybody who is interested in how this franchise got its start. Do not be fooled by the card battle trappings. There is much more that happens here, and I am curious as to see where this new take goes, especially with all of the changes it has made to the prior format.
