So more background storytelling this week between the two main leads.

Chinatsu changed quite a bit though based on her personality in the present timeline. Also, I really hope they give the two main girls some worthy opponents soon. Feels like their opponents are jobbers at the moment but it's understandable considering were only into the first few episodes.

The battles imo is actually more fun than the first season's.

Episode 2

Chinatsu is introduced here, and her situation is really sad as she has what it takes to become great, but everything starts to crash and burn for her as her family is poor, and Chinatsu has to work to pay off her tuition. Then things take a turn for the worst as her test scores are slipping as her part-time job has become more demanding, and after acting hostile towards friends she loses it. As if that weren't bad enough, her father got laid off from his job. She can think about nothing but disappearing, but she decides at the last minute that she wants to win seeing that there's one memory she can change with a win. Interesting to see how things turn out now that it's clear that Chinatsu and Suzuko aren't who they used to be.

And more LRIGs are introduced here, and I must say that I really love the character designs for the LRIGs this season as they are all so cute as opposed the first season when only Tama and Eldora caught my attention while everybody else I didn't really care for. Anyway, things are about to get interesting.

Episode 2

Looks like this one is about Chinatsu.

She's had it rough. She's trying to do great in life, but it just keeps knocking her down bit by bit. Perhaps this is what happens when you join the selector death game known as WIXOSS, lol.

Opponents do feel like fodder for the two deuteragonists to grow as characters. Oh, and I found a derp in this one.. Pick it up J.C. Staff!!

Seriously, the worst part of this show about a card game is the actual card game. The world and story they are telling outside of the game isn't bad at all but when they go into the card game battles themselves it's just eye rollingly stupid.

Well, I'm gonna have to complain this time around. The episode felt way too rushed to draw the viewer in. We saw Chi's life fall apart in basically 20 minutes, it took away a lot of the emotional impact from my perspective. I honestly could have seen this episode split into at least 2. Unless there's a very specific reason for moving things quickly, I'm kind of worried here. It sort of feels like the show is aimlessly running around with no clear purpose in mind. Sure there's battling, but the way they separate the story from the SoL scenes is night and day. It feels like 2 completely different shows (and stories), they just don't work together harmoniously. Can they really bring the storyline together by reuniting the 2 MC's? Let's hope so.

Episode 2

The first episode introduced Suzu but this week we are introduced to Chinatsu who has had it ruff in life. after her fathers company doesn't do well they have to sell their house and move and to make it ruff has a part time job and going to school. Due to working more days at work her grades aren't that good for the scholarship she was aiming for. later gets in a fight with a friend that causes her to lose her job and the scholarship. We also get to see her in some battles and the first one is against a returning character. She loses two battles due to not using her coin ability but in the third one uses it to win.

This episode we learned more about the coins and what happens if you win all five. Just like in the original you get a wish but this wish is to change a memory, restore or erase it.

Can't agree more, this is my first WIXOSS anime so not sure if things will get better later on.
Every battle they use random cards (they don't even bother to explain what they do) that are completely useless for the most part, since there is this super OP coin bet system that makes your primary card make powerful attacks...I mean is there even a point to the other cards other than fill in air time before they use their coin bets? So far I would say no.
But yeah the story and world are definitely what I like about this show, it's sort of Hunger Gamer-ish where they have to keep fighting to survive and there are limited resources (coins) that they have to get in order to stay alive.

The Selector series stumbles out of the gate with too much info dumping and card game complication that doesn't separate itself from typical shows that market card games, but once the consequences for being eliminated come to play, that's when this show really starts to get better. I would imagine that something similar is in store with this show. What makes this show worth watching is that the emphasis is placed on the psychological impact and character bonds more so than the actual card game itself, and using the card game to get to that goal takes time to set up, especially since the rules are different in this series.

Damn, i have to watch the other series? I suppose yes as this seems to be all right.

Gotta say, this is quite dark themed show i've seen for a while. Coins run out, you're erased? Damn, that's some serious shit.

For episode 2, kinda have to feel sorry for that little girl Chinatsu defeated.

And finally, judging by that Op, how epic would that be IF Suzuko and Chinatsu would duel each other...

The show isn't about the card games itself. Cardfight Vanguard and Yugioh has far more emphasis on the moves and mechanics there as this series is more a psychological thriller.

I'm not familiar of the actual card game in real life but what sells this series is the drama and character building/

For sure, and that's sort of my point. They make such a big deal about it being a card game and yet the card game is portrayed in a rather dumb manner that makes no real sense. The show would be much better off it they just removed the card game abstraction altogether and just had the battles play out as in, say, Pokemon or the Fate series where there's a minion and a master directing them. As it is, it feels like they're either trying to sell you a physical card game or just don't have the budget/talent to make proper battles.

Except the show itself is based on a card game, or at least the franchise is. I wouldn't call the entire card game dumb as it feels more like a deconstruction of the usual battle-on-battles.

The anime itself focuses more on the characters obviously but I can't see it being done without following the card game themes.

After watching the first 2 episodes I can't see myself continuing which is a shame because I really like WIXOSS. Probably the one thing I liked here more is I found the characters immediately more likable although something I liked about the first series was how much the characters grew on me by the end.

It's been a while so I might be remembering wrong but the WIXOSS rules seem different. Wasn't it if you win you get a wish granted as the main draw (with a few spoiler things waiting for you) and if you lose your wish becomes the opposite? I think that's a lot better. Why would I want to alter or add a memory? Would it change everyone's memory too or would I just remember something happening completely different from how it really did and everyone thinks I'm insane?

I'll probably hang around to see how this goes but I don't think I'll watch anymore which sucks. I really liked the first series and was looking forward to watching this one.

Just now caught up with this new season, or tried to anyway.

What is this garbage? What have they done to my WIXOSS???

Bright colors? No eternal girls? No wish reversal? No Mayu, Tama, or Yuki? MALE selectors? No dark, foreboding atmosphere? No cynically psychotic villain like Ulith, Iona, or Akira? No Kanon Wakeshima OP? What is this coin nonsense? Memory coins? Shapeshifting LRIGs?

Umm, hello? Am I watching a completely different franchise?

Man, I watched the awesome recap + new backstory movie that got me insanely hyped for this season and it turns out they gutted nearly everything I loved about it. Even the new game board looks so simple and unimposing.

I'm happy for those that are enjoying this, but I just can't. I almost want to become a selector in this series to erase the memory that I even tried watching this. It feels like WIXOSS with all of the spirit of the original completely removed. 'Sigh'

But, as always, that's just my personal opinion.
