Caught up through Episode 2.

People seem to feel pretty strongly about this show. I'm really enjoying it, and I'm already trying to mentally unpack the mystery behind this round of the card game, whether it has any relation to the original game, etc. And I think it's still plenty dark, it's just taking a bit longer to become readily apparent. (We don't have "Aki-Lucky" to put things down the tubes from the get-go, after all.)

Just now caught up with this new season, or tried to anyway.

What is this garbage? What have they done to my WIXOSS???

Bright colors? No eternal girls? No wish reversal? No Mayu, Tama, or Yuki? MALE selectors? No dark, foreboding atmosphere? No cynically psychotic villain like Ulith, Iona, or Akira? No Kanon Wakeshima OP? What is this coin nonsense? Memory coins? Shapeshifting LRIGs?

Umm, hello? Am I watching a completely different franchise?

Man, I watched the awesome recap + new backstory movie that got me insanely hyped for this season and it turns out they gutted nearly everything I loved about it. Even the new game board looks so simple and unimposing.

I'm happy for those that are enjoying this, but I just can't. I almost want to become a selector in this series to erase the memory that I even tried watching this. It feels like WIXOSS with all of the spirit of the original completely removed. 'Sigh'

But, as always, that's just my personal opinion.

IDK think I was spoiled by the original ! It did take awhile though to unravel all the details in S1 / S2

I miss TAMA

Episode 3

Even guys can play the role of Selectors in this series huh

The battle is intense, felt like this season is able to keep up with its momentum every episode and Homura's opponent gave her some trouble. Pretty predictable that she didn't lose though. At this rate, I think the show is testing the more prominent Selectors with their skills.

Episode 3

So here, what it means to disappear is explained as it means memories and personalities disappear, but the person is still there. Suzuko learns that from her next opponent Narumi, whose sister Aya disappeared (and hence is the name of his LRIG). Just when it looked like Aya had the advantage, making Suzuko cry total causes Narumi to lose his composure seeing that she reminds him of his sister that disappeared. That was pretty painful what Narumi wen through.

I'm really glad this version of WIXOSS isn't as melodramatic and sadistic like the first one was.

I mean, with a new director and writer on board, the new WIXOSS feels a bit different. It does still have that subversion of "This is more than just a game" gimmick going on, so there's that.

As for the episode, we get a little about the side characters and their issues. WIXOSS is a gruesome game.. Still looks fun to play, though, lol.

Episode 3

This week we have two battles one is Suzuko against another boy selector who during the match tells her what it means to disappear. The other one is Hanna who battles a girls who is about to disappear. Both battles are good we see Suzuko stepping up her game using her cards better and using her coin ability when she needs to. Hanna on the other hand has a easy time with her match and even puts her opponent in tough spot where she starts begging in the end. After winning her match she also finds out the truth by seeing it in person. The last scene we see Chinatsu going to see someone who will let her know about other selectors.

After seeing this episode yes they reveal what happens when you disappear but I don't think it's really like that. when they showed the girl who Hanna beat they showed the card was empty and in the first two seasons the LRIG remained in the card. Here the card was already empty and the girl looked like she was stretching out her body or should I say tasting her freedom. I think that if you lose all coins this time around the LRIG takes over your body like they did in the original but if you win you keep your memories and yourself. I think the one that brought back the selector battles is Ulith. somehow she survived the punishment and is back to make people suffer? I haven't seen the movie yet so maybe they could have changed the scene of what happened to her.

And the pattern of characters/story good, card related stuff bad continues. I'm getting to the point where I'm seriously considering just skipping past the battles entirely.

Still waiting for the good stuff to happen. The characters are bland. C'mon selectors you are going to disappear. Show more emotions.

I miss Aki Lucky.

This episode was a much better example of the basic Wixoss plot. The thing that made this episode great was the way the battle actually went on for several turns so that interesting things happened. Much like any card game, (but specifically Yu-Gi-Oh) the longer a game goes on for, the more intriguing and captivating it is for the viewer. They really need to focus on the fact that this is a show about the card game, backstory and drama comes 2nd on the totem pole. I'll agree with the sentiment that the characters aren't all that great, it's a flaw that you just can't ignore no matter how good the episodes may be done. They seem to be delaying the reunion with childhood friend-chan for as long as possible, not sure why. I liked this episode.

Wait, so this had a previous season? I can't find it? Was it good? Do i need to watch it before i continue?

I've only watched the first 2 chapters so far, and i'm enjoying it. Feels like a lesbian Yu-Gi-Oh!

Funimation has the previous season. If you have access to Hulu, you can see it there, too.

Caught up through Episode 3, and Episode 4 is happening tomorrow, so ... I am still invested in this. The longer the show keeps Suzuko and Chinatsu from meeting, the higher the stakes get. And the man in black is probably the aforementioned Bookmaker, but is he the big bag of the piece? One has to wonder.

Episode 4

The two friends finally meet, and it's not a happy reunion to say the least, not when their lives have fallen by the wayside and Wixoss is on their minds. This was all made possible when Suzuko made a friend in Hanna and she used her connections to meet up with somebody who can arrange selector battles for them. And the opponent for Sumida, who Suzuko won her first battle against, battles Chinatsu and loses his last coin. So in truth, seeing that Sumida is acting like his LRIG, the personalities of the LRIG get implanted into the person who gets eliminated, thus confirming Hanna's theory. So questions are slowly being answered in all this.

In the present timeline, I have no doubt Chinatsu and Homura will be rivals afterwards from this episode. I think Homura is still trying to re-establish their friendship from childhood but nope, Chinatsu is the one that changed, at least personality-wise.

Episode felt rather boring imo this week compared to the others. The battle itself was lacking too although I think pacing should pick up better from here. Expecting Chinatsu and Homura to battle real soon.

Episode 4

A weak episode, but it did accomplish what it set out to do.

Some characters are starting to enter that cynical phase the first WIXOSS had by them acting flamboyant, obnoxious, and creepy. This has been a thing since the first WIXOSS and I never found it compelling.

Still, Chinatsu and Homura did meet up and things should get juicy from here. I'm really glad they didn't drag out their separation either. I do look forward to their battle, though.
