Some of you really need to watch some videos regarding how hard it is to take someone down who is on PCP. A gunshot from a 9mm gun is only going to piss them off. Unless you get a vital organ, this is what happens. And believe me, as someone who enjoys target practice, shooting a moving target takes a lot of training...training cops don't necessarily have.

Unless you've been in combat, you can't judge an officer, soldier, or anyone else whose actions you might not necessarily agree with during these altercations. You can say "He didn't have a weapon" until your blue in the face, but when the adrinaline is running and a subject is taking up a stance that looks like they're going to shoot and has a black object pointed at you, you're going to shoot. You're not going to take time to ask the subject what it is that's in his hand.

Cop did what she was paid to do, "protect and serve", as a result, nobody died. This may come as a shock to you, but in many other countries the cops don't have guns, and they have to deal with events like soccer riots. You ever seen a soccer riot? Google it.

how is getting the shit beaten out of you "protecting and serving"

Not killing an unarmed man. Actually attempting to subdue the unarmed man instead of killing him... ... in every other country on earth this is part of a cop's job description. It is unfortunate that she sustained injuries in the process, however that is part of the risk of being a cop, that is literally part of her paycheck. Give her a medal, for doing the right thing.

Why not just get rid of cops if they can't do their jobs and save the money. Everyone will be on their own since the police can't help you for fear of "killing" someone in the process of killing you.

After reviewing this thread it seems clear everything worth saying has been said, and considering the number of posts I had to delete a lot not worth saying was mentioned too. Locked and closed for everyone's benefit.

^ Probably because living in a world like the movie "The Purge" would be a very scary thing indeed.

Would you please go protect and serve in downtown Chicago so we don't have to hear this bullshit anymore?

He's like eh fuck that, worth getting beat down to a bloody mess than getting death threats for his family for shooting someone. This is for his family dammit!

Actually SHE did say this, as well as not wanting national scrutiny to be wrongfully thrust on her police station.

Everyone involved survived.

So rape is OK because everyone survives?

Why didn't she or the other officers just taser the guy? Seems like the best option with the lowest chance of killing the guy while not risking injury to herself.

"Hang on, just keep beating me while I avoid getting my gun, goto my car, prep and ready my taser, and come back here to use it on you."
Maybe a standard accident is even LESS likely to have a need for a standard pullover to need a taser and using a non-standard weapon would be... non-standard?

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has blamed the surge in violent crime on officers balking during confrontations, saying they have become “fetal” because they don’t want to be prosecuted or fired for their actions.

Yes, because that happens so often.

Also, if you are a public servant who can't do their job because of public scrutiny then find another job.

The beating isn't the implication you idgit. Cops not doing their jobs when violent crime is happening right in front of them and now to them is what the issue is. So yes, as you can see on thousands of videos all over YouTube, this is happening OFTEN.

Both sides of this argument are a mess. No, its not cool to wish harm on other people because they disagree with you. No, we shouldn't say "almost being murdered" is the intended result for an altercation such as this.

Jesus fuck people, get your shit together.

I'm not sure what "Jesus fuck" is supposed to mean but it sounds like you're trying to insult Christians. That aside, the so-called "harm wishing" in this thread is sarcastic at best and more than justified for the value in getting the point across to these horrible people. Moreover it's a desire for natural selection to remove these betas from existence so the rest of us can live in civility without being criticized for it.
