Despite that, it was the pace of speaking that annoyed the heck out of me. Like a machine gun of b***hing in Japanese. Gets old.

I have to ask: Have you attempted any of the Monogatari shows yet? Because, if this pace of speaking bugs you, I'm interested in how you handled those.

I had to look it up. Sorry, I have not seen it. Wikipedia says, "The Monogatari series revolves around Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire.," which may be why I never considered it. I have seen too many vampires, zombies, etc. stuff in my life, lol.

I almost skipped watching The Outsider, because of the first episode. But I hung on and liked it. The zombie crap was just 2 episodes of it, and the undead was not the focus.

Well, monogatari is one of those shows the synopsis doesn't say jack shit about.

I wasn't too hyped before I watched the first episode but I thought it could surprise me. I like Steins;Gate because the story is really entertaining but the scientific part of it is just stupid so I thought a series from the same author but without bs-science could be better. Sadly the first episode was a mess and some of the characters are pretty annoying (and I guess I don't have to write down what I think about lipstick man ).
I didn't finish the first episode because I couldn't enjoy it at all but after reading that the first episode covered the first volume I might give it another try (could be better without such an insane pacing) .

The scientific part of it was hardly stupid it followed some of the top theories on time travel.

This is part of his science fiction series like Chaos;Head etc.

The science isn't really that bullshit no more then star treks science it's science fiction working on theoretical science.

You must also thing most sci fi shows are bullshit science :') plus no one says the series world shares the same scientific principles ours does either.

Edit: Just found out that the game Steins:Gate was released 7 years ago so I'm fine with the black hole thing. But still, too many small, unnecessary mistakes you have to ignore but since the story would be the same even without the mistakes it's not bothering me that much.

Weird but wonderful show so far, though all the more interesting characters are the darker mysterious ones. Comedy main trio were the weakest links IMO though fan service boob girl gets a pass on account of being bat shit crazy instead of just plain annoying like MC.

I heard that pacing got better for this week's episode.

Still not really sold on the story yet though.

Not that it could've gotten worse really.

That being said, this week's episode was at least watchable. Pacing aside, it introduced one or two characters that weren't 100% insufferable. For the time being, I'm giving it the benifit of the doubt in the form of the 3 episodes rule.

Liking this so far, this ep slowed down and is nicely setting up lots of intriguing stuff.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, and different strokes for... looks like someone is a fan of old 60's playmates before they got all skinny and silicony like Fran Gerard or Melinda Windsor.

Episode 2 is much more bearable to watch, and it mixes the random element of DRRR!! and the eerie but poetic tinge of the Monogatari series. (That Gamon character remains much of an annoyance.)

Still on a deciding stage if I'll keep this series on the queue. But for now, the mystery keeps me satisfactorily sated.

Too early for me to make any conjectures that hold water. I still have high expectations. I just hope this mystery series is one where they give you all of the tools to solve the mystery by like episode 8-9 but it'll be pretty elaborate and you need the right facts on the right point in the timeline, so by the time they do the reveal you'll just go "OHHHH". The supernatural element makes it hard too. If the climax/conclusion of the series is totally stupid, like they spring up something they never told you about or some convenient ex machina of the like to round it off I'd be pissed. (looking at you rokka no yuusha)
