Episode 1

So it's another re-enactment of Nobunaga's ambition with the artwork being just outlines on a piece of parchment. The characters are all yokai of sorts. I wasn't excited at all about this show, but I gave it a try, and pretty much, I didn't like it at all.

Here's a more traditional image, for the better appreciation of Grauger's abstract interpretation of it:

Episode 1

That was actually pretty funny. I liked the animation of old-style line drawings, and it was amusing even if you don't know much history.

In this episode Nobunaga is a gun nut and makes people cry.

Too bad he turned down the idea of target practice on tea cups though. I recently finished watching Black Lagoon, and it would have been amusing to compare his technique with Revy's

Oh wait, she also uses people for target practice. Well, then.

This was actually pretty funny. And I love the old style they used. What is it called?

Indeed it was funny and I think this is simple old hand drawn animation, single uncolored frames, no backgrounds, no characters, just whole sheets of paper drawn and photographed. Not sure that actually has a name.

It's sort of odd to be watching both this and Ninja Girl in the same season but they are both really enjoyable.

Today my watching of Folktales from Japan paid off.

I got the joke about throwing a riceball down a hole to earn favor with a rat.

Such a quiet little thread.

In today's episode, the new foreign food group, bananas.

I should have seen the slip on a banana peel gag coming, but I didn't.

And that made it more funny of course, even though I usually think slipping on a banana peel gags are stupid.

I loved how they kept commenting on how it somehow seemed appropriate for Hideyoshi to be eating it without really knowing why.

They also really nailed the animation on Frois demonstrating how to unpeel the banana. I actually had to go back and watch that part again because of how good it was. lol
