Apparently, there is some backwards laws such as rape victims aren't notified when their rape kits are destroyed, even when the investigation is not finished, some states women are required to pay for them, and a backlog of kits that just scream inefficiency.

The new law allows for preservation of rape kits throughout the statute of limitations.
