I haven't even heard of anyone who has seen this besides myself and a couple of friends I loaned my dvd's to.

You must not know many people that watched TechTV back in the day.

It was one of the series shown in their "Anime Unleashed" segment:

I'm going old fool and suggesting Ai Yori Aoshi which is a true romance story pretending to be a harem. But it is NOT a harem show by any stretch of the imagination.

I loved "Anime Unleashed" back in the day. The early 2000's were great for anime actually being on broadcast tv between TechTV's Anime Unleashed and Encore's "Animidnight" and several other anime blocks being broadcast. I was in middle school then so I would set my VCR each night to record TechTV's late night anime and loved it (no dvr back in the day and didn't need one).

I like and have the DVD's to Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi so in memory of Anime Unleashed I will name two more from the same programming block.

Acchi Kocchi
My Little Monster
Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun
The Wallflower
No Game No Life
All of these are funny day to day animes except No Game No Life. They all fell under the radar. Especially Acchi Kocchi and The Wallflower. I wish these all had second seasons, though there's still hope for Monthly Girl's Nozaki-kun and No Game no Life.

Was just going to say Higurashi, but I'm so happy someone else had already beaten me to it. One of my all time favorites.
