Episode 1

It all started out with the MC studying Chinese history, but he ends up getting a card that he has to defend with his life. And it turns out that it's a spirit as Sonshin is being asked to hand over that card and is attacked when he refused. Well, that was an interesting start there, and the animation is out of the ordinary to say the least. Let's see what happens after that.

For some reason, the animation style feels familiar to another anime I've watched recently. Not sure which though.

Oh, it's a supernatural horror history-changing card-game magic powers show.

I was mildly interested until the cards showed up. Now, well, I'll give it another two episodes, but I'm not feeling hopeful.

Not a chance.

I watched 1 episode (possibly 2) of the first Wixoss show, and yeah, nope. The only card-game related show I've ever enjoyed is Chihayafuru

So far at least, the card aspect feels more like the heroic spirit cards of Fate than the LRIGs of WIXOSS. I'm not sure if a knock off of Fate is going to be much good but I managed to finish the first episode so I'll see if it holds my interest in later episodes. If this show was on Wednesday or Saturday when there's a zillion shows I might not even have checked it out but on a quiet Monday I'd say there's a good chance I'll continue to watch it since there isn't much else on.

Episode 2

Shuuyu was a formidable soldier in Chinese legend, but she's weak as a card spirit as Sonshin's spiritual power is low. So he manages to escape the library, but the teacher is one step ahead as he knew that he was after his phone, and that he was trying to escape the school using the emergency staircase on the roof. He sure got himself in a bad situation.

Shiro Emiya looks a bit under-powered in this incarnation. Will he and Saber die? Or will he uncover some mystical internal technical skill that magically lucks out to allow them to escape to recover and battle later. Inquiring minds want to know...

The art and OP are nice, not very impressed with the story yet although I do like the three kingdoms history.
Edit: after watching ep2 I retract what I said about the art, they are overdoing it with that effect.

Looks like a Chinese version of Cardcaptors (or whatever card-playing show appies)? I kinda like it anyway.

The only distraction is that strange effect on the character drawings. It's not a deal-breaker, but it is annoying.

That's the first episode anyway.

Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking about Emiya and Sabre in this Chinese tale... but actually I enjoyed episode 2 a bit more than the first one so for something short to watch on a Tuesday morning before I go to work, I'll probably stick with this one.

Sonshin was (understandably) useless during the battle. But, he did start thinking when they were fleeing. Even started to take charge a little bit. That was hopeful.

The artwork still takes away from the story. Trying to ignore it, but it's in-your-face all time. Fortunately, I like the story more than I hate the animation style.

Yeah, We'll see how they resolve this... I'll be watching for some for him to do something noble/honorable/not too cheesy so that I can start to care about his character. It's not there yet, but like you say, it's a short and not much else to watch on a Tuesday, so i'll give it some more time yet.
