ok so

I agree he didn't have to threaten to call the police, which, weren't called, but the other dude totally over reacted and brought race into it when his neighbor didn't even know he was black lol

A female cop fears to defend herself and is nearly killed because she feared a public backlash, and a man over reacts and becomes incensed at a note telling him to keep the noise down, making it into a race war and a police brutality issue.....

A lot of tense nerves these days.

Just want to say, if you are living in an apartment, there are typically noise limits (especially late at night). As a tenant, you are expected and required to stay within the allowable bounds for noise as to not disturb the other tenants. These aren't "new norms" made up out of nowhere. They are existing rules which exist out of courtesy for the others living in the apartment.

We're just hearing one side of the story. For all we know, his 2 am noise could have also been loud music and a party as well. I'd like to hear the side of the story from the neighbor who wrote the complaint. Maybe this sort of thing happens often in the apartment complex and the man is just sick of it. If you've never lived in a dorm or apartment, you have no idea as to how inconsiderate people can be. I remember having one neighbor who decided to try out his new sound system by watching a Star Wars film at 2 am, the night before I had finals.

As someone who works shifts, I know how difficult it is when the rest of the world wants to sleep and you just got home and wanna relax. Although I have my own home so I don't need to worry about people above or below me, I still am considerate to my neighbors. I do r get home at 3 am and decide that that would be the perfect time to open the windows and sing opera (I have a neighbor that does this nightly at 10 pm).

I don't have to worry about upstairs, but like on another forum like I said ppl upstairs complain about me walking -how does that work lol-

I used to have a neighbor next door who would get drunk , turn on loud jazz music and sing , then go into a yelling frenzy by himself,

I use to have a neighbour who would sneak out after I put out the trash and go through my trash for valuable ( to her ) objects and viable left overs. >.>

^ A big one here is going through your recycling can the night before collection day. You'll see people systematically go through bins, plucking out bottles and cans to recycle. It's why I make sure that my name and address is removed from boxes and all letters shredded.

This was in the 90s. Apple was still a punchline in high school computer labs.

She was more looking for elastics and chicken bones. I didn't ask. No good can come from asking someone why they are rooting through your garbage like a forensic scientist.

Ahh, okay. My phone already looks like that because it was backed over by a truck once which is why it was free and I am poor so it was a fantastic price. ;p

They talked to the neighbor. "David O. said he and his wife just wanted to sleep. They didn’t know Brookshire was black until the post went viral. He said his upstairs neighbor was cursing and yelling, and it sounded like he was arguing."

If you read the story all the way to the end of it, you get about two or three paragraphs from his point of view.

That be like if I did my usual stimming--then got pissed off and offended the people beneath me filed a complaint for jumping around at 2 am in the morning. I mean, how ableist would that be? My poor psychological well being!

I could never live next to people for that reason. RIP.

It's not news, just the media chowing down on the melodrama between the sensitive and insensitive.

D-Bag thinks being black and paying rent is an excuse to be an arse, but it isn't. Everyone is expected to pay rent and obey noise level laws and or policies laid out by the community.

As an apartment renter and a home theater enthusiast this irks me to know end considering the amount of effort I put in to make sure and not annoy my neighbors and this jackass just thinks he's entitled. With his attitude I'd be given eviction papers in 2.2 seconds.
