Considering how console versions always outsell their PC versions, no. Still PC is the place for better performance.

Only when majority of people you know are making the switch. Most of my friends all have Xbox's, and we've all be in that ecosystem longer so its only natural we stick with it if it keeps pumping out games we want to play. As many benefits versus hurdles PC's have, I think people would only make the switch if they have people to play with.

Economic wise, the game industry has been doing pretty well. Consoles are selling faster then their last gen counterparts and PC video card sales are going up and prices are providing are more reasonable entry into that ecosystem. Heck even Bestbuy are selling pre-built gaming PC's (not the best of course, but a good start).

I would say no because good PCs are expensive and you have to know how to build them (which wouldn't be hard but I'm lazy so I don't want to look it up) but consoles are plug n play so I'm all for that

It really comes down to whether or not you are just purely a consumer or not; PC users are able to do a lot more than what is possible on consoles and just allow for multitasking in general.

As far as cost goes, if you use a computer for anything else besides gaming at all, the PC is actually a far more cost effective route to go. In this case, you already have to have a PC anyways, and the cost of a console is about the same price of a good GPU; so, why not just combine the cost of your console and PC and just have a good gaming PC? You also save a ton on games too with all the sales that go on (like, you can usually get most games for like 50% off or more from what they are selling for on consoles). You also have better looking games that play at higher frame rates than their console counterparts for usually a longer period of time than a console will get you.

Mods are also better on PC (which just means you can do all sorts of things with games from just making them look better to just making them strange, more terrifying, new game modes, etc.).

Oh, and then there are all the MMO's, playing on an ultrawide monitor, higher resolutions, and a lot more you can do with VR too.

Microsoft just starting pushing their "play anywhere" initiative pretty hard recently with Gears of War 4 and several other major titles. It's not only cross-buy (purchase once, play anywhere), but Gears is also cross-network (meaning you can play on PC with your friends on Xbox in multiplayer games). Most are expecting the next Halo to go this route too.

Most of my friends play on Xbox, but I still prefer my PC whenever possible; it's just better all around if you like to do more.

Both consoles and gaming PC's are doing better than ever.

Uh... is there an everything checkbox for this?
Console gaming is far from dead at this point. Most of my friends are on PSN, which is my "primary" gaming device (PS4). I have an Xbox One because of the cross-buy/play logic that Microsoft was showing off with Forza at E3.

As for PC, I have an awesome one but I spend too much time in front of a computer as it is. For me, consoles are more comfortable and relaxing - versus PC, it's much like me being at work (as a programmer). I recently upgraded to a GTX 1080 and bumped up the RAM to 64GB. It's smooth, but I can only play for limited bursts (versus hours on end on consoles).

Console gaming isn't dead, but it's definitely not as big as back then.

That's not to say PC is really taking over, too. Smart devices are.

Putting one together isn't hard once you get the parts, as long as your outside case can fit everything. I have more problem finding empty space to stuff extra cables in on mine.

But if you mean just grab the video/audio out cable and stuff in into a TV, then I guess?
