Not necessarily

It's only if someone brings up the topic, is when I will reveal that I am a fan of anime

My siblings, parents and some of my friends know that i'm otaku. Those who don't know, i'm happy to explain about that whenever the subject rises.

No, but I'm out of school, everyone knows and nobody really cares.

Nope. I'll mention it anytime it comes up, nothing to be ashamed of. I have Shana and Umaru-chan on my keychain and I sometimes wear my shirts.

I'm pretty open about it. Except for my grandparents. Got tired of the "waste of money" lectures I kept getting.

No. I do not think it is shameful. I just do not shout out at everybody: I LOVE ANIME! I just keep it normal and open for those who ask. I just try not to talk about it on my job since I am a teacher and I wouldn't be taken seriously if I liked any kind of cartoons.

If someone brings up the subject, sure I'll talk about it. Otherwise, no one outside of my family and a few acquaintances would know. I have a few anime pics I use for the messenger at work, which has started some good conversations.

I don't mind telling people that I'm an otaku, people already think I'm weird for many other reasons, that won't change much of it.

My family and close friends all know that I like anime, and my apartment has posters and dvds in it. I try to avoid talking about it if I don't think the person is interested, but sometimes my enthusiasm for anime gets the better of me.

Pfft, no. There's far, FAR worse things to be into than freaking cartoons. I think being open with your hobbies means less speculation as to what you MIGHT be into that could be a lot more disturbing. Yeah, you out yourself as a nerd, but a nerd's harmless... it's not like you're making meth in your bathtub or something.

I have es series nino rubber straps on pretty much all of my bags (except for one which has the Lelouch pinch strap because it's so cute). And on my traveller's notebooks.

I hope people notice them.

(these. In pairings like that, usually... although, one bag has Kuroh and Neko on the outside and Shiro on my keys... I'll put Shiro with them when the movie comes out, because I'm that big of a nerd with this stuff).

I'm not sure if I have an otaku life to begin with. I'm more of a casual viewer even so I don't tend to discuss any hobbies at work. Some family and one friend do know that I watch anime, that's it.

Not really...people around me don't even care and just carry on with their lives.
