He is a separate entity his existence has no impact on his environment rather his actions do we learned that from the butterfly effect theory. Time travel is widely viewed as time being linear in nature. Let's take a piece of paper and say that is our tangent, when we roll it up the edge closest to use touches towards the middle making a loop where the current time is the closet edge to us and the furthest edge is the beginning of our timeline.

If you apply the string theory or multiverse theory things get much more exciting.

Although dying in the past would stand to the belief that you would die in the present seeing as regardless if you went to a time that you currently existed the future you is still a separate entity traveling through time that dyed at that point.

The movie Butterfly Effect explains your statement in a more theatrical way, and it shows what the consequences of your choices are.

I'll rephrase it then...

He time travels when he dies so him being executed wouldn't count as a separate lets say condition.

Since he was trying to confuse people I thought I would to but whatever.
