It's already available in Germany so the English version should be online within the next hour.

Very chill start, def something to be watched alone, and at your own pace. Its also interesting to see something with a boring premise on paper look like it could end up being quite special.

Anyway bring on ep 2.

I'm not seeing this on Amazon in the states. I've been really excited to watch it but if it isn't up in a legal place soon, I'll have to find some other way to watch it. Any chance this is that last To Be Announced show on Crunchy's release schedule?

So it looks like this show many never be legally available in the US. It's been several days now so people have been directly contacting Amazon and Amazon Prime Video themselves, and they have been shooting back BS about how there was no official confirmation of any deal between Amazon and Fuji TV for exclusive rights to the noitaminA block for a full year and that Amazon doesn't have the license to The Great Passage and that it is up to the individual content providers as to where shows are allowed to be available. They're basically trying to pass the blame onto Fuji TV.

It looks like what I feared came to pass. After the extremely lackluster reception of Battery, Amazon came to regret their deal and now they are trying to pretend it never happened, even though they still have the rights to the shows.

Looks like no streaming for this one. If you're desperate to watch it, then fansubs are your last resort...

Hopefully CR can get this if it's not too late.

Amazon has the rights to it, but for some reason, doesn't appear to be streaming it in the US, although they are in the UK (along with 2 other non-noitaminA titles that no one else in the English-speaking world appear to be streaming).

Someone speculated they could be going the Netflix route for the US and waiting to post it all in one go. While it is a reasonable theory, given that Amazon does indeed have the rights and it would seem illogical not to use them, there is no factual support for it. We'll just have to wait and see if it happens. In the meantime, a significant portion of their audience will resort to fansubs (although I won't be among them).

I just watched the first episode, and that will be it for me until it gets streamed. It's already bad enough that with the deal that Crunchyroll and other streaming services are denied an opportunity to stream this due to the exclusive deal, but for Amazon to get it and then not make it available for everybody is just outrageous. I'm not exactly sure what's going on here, but somebody needs to step up and get the facts out.

Episode 1

Pretty much, it's all about Araki getting ready to call it a career to be by his ailing wife's side, and in comes Majime who has such a fascination with words that makes him fit to be the next dictionary editor. This is basically setup and breaking in Majime's character as he goes on a voyage to make The Great Passage the best dictionary out there seeing that no two dictionaries are alike. It will be interesting to see what direction this show goes.

l'm so mad at amazon. they blow a bunch of money to deprive crunchy and funi and other streaming services of the animation backwards shows but then they don't even put them up.

Episode 2

Ah I love how they figuratively described how a dictionary is made of and the analogies regarding building a ship of words to sail for a passage.

I'm also more curious about this woman who showed up at the end though. I wonder if she knows Mitsuya from somewhere?
