Finished a binge-watch today (I'm home sick so was able to take advantage). That was really, really good. I didn't like the interlude kawaii dicitionaries though. It just didn't seem a good match for the overall tone, in spite of the reveal of Kai-kun in the later episodes.

I don't regret at all joining Amazon's "Anime Strike" since I got this out of it.

Here's another nice perk: (regular) Prime members can download the translated book for free this month as part of Kindle first:

Nice! I saw the Kindle First message in my email as usual, but hadn't checked yet to see what the offerings were. This is a nice surprise. I usually do download one of the Kindle First offerings every month, but I haven't been all that impressed with anything so far. I look forward to seeing how this holds up.

This show is really a hidden gem that I wholeheartedly approve for anyone and everyone! It really is too bad it's release wasn't on a more popular platform, as I think a lot more people could benefit from watching this considering it's very interesting theme. In today's world where a lot of misinformation comes up from the use (or rather more often misuse) of words, the timeliness and relevance of this show's subject matter need to be viewed by a lot more people. Every time I see someone either on this site or really anywhere on the net misuse a word (like for instance "moe" or "Otaku" or even sometimes the word "anime") and I see them try to argue their justification for using said word (usually out of context or from some outdated definition) I facepalm and just wish they'd watch this show to learn that language is an ever changing and constantly growing thing.

This anime really does a beautiful and effective job of conveying that.

I am delighted (and, I admit, a little surprised) that The Great Passage made it through the nominations round in the 2016 Battle tournament that's going on right now.

I would love to see it advance out of the current round as well -- the longer it sticks around, the more chances there are for folks to hear about it, and be encouraged to try it. It's not that I don't enjoy my fair share of more typical (often juvenile) anime fare, but I'm finding myself more and more impressed by, and drawn to, anime that is clearly for adults where "for adults" doesn't mean "here's some sex and violence for you!"

Anyway, Here's my plea

Go over to the 2016 Battle thread and participate in the rankings.

The Great Passage is in the third group. Give it a 4 then rank the others in that group.

Take a look at the other groups too. Rank them also.

Get your vote in before

Keep an eye out for the results, tomorrow's round, and more rounds next week, in that very same thread and keep coming back to vote.
