Sorry.

About what? It's not your fault that so many people like anime, it doesn't tell you anything useful about them anymore. It's basically like being in a community that watches movies. Not specific kinds of movies... just movies. "I like movies." Who couldn't say that? What human being on this planet can honestly say that they do not like any movie of any type?

For not explaining properly.

It's not really divided in the way you think it is, it's just that some people have different preferences. Some enjoy harems, others enjoy action, and some enjoy a good romance. However, toxic fanbases are a different story.

Enjoy!!!

Well the thing about comparing the anime community as a whole is like comparing the gaming community as a whole. There are completely different genres and everyone has preferences. I can't say the gaming community is divided because people who like Smash Brothers don't like Street Fighter. It'd be stupid of me to say that because although they're of the same genre (fighting) they're completely different games. The same applies to the anime community, it's silly to say the anime community is divided for one reason or the other.
tl;dr the anime community isn't divided, peeps just have opinions as per usual
Besides, why would you want to join the community as a whole? It'd be boring as hell if we all agreed on everything.

What I mean is that some people are rude and arrogant about their opinions.

Ah, that is true. The thing about those people is there's a good reason for that. They're friggin assholes. Sadly no matter where you go there will be elitists and asshats in every community and the anime community isn't exempt from this. There's no way to really change this. Opinions are opinions though, and elitists can shove their opinions into someone's face as arrogantly and rudely as they want and in the end they're still a friggin elitist and I can't change that.
Essentially, it boils down to the fact that if a person is a jerk, then they're a jerk and you can't change that. Doesn't mean that a community is divided, just means that there's a jerk in the community.

Because that's how people are. If you incubate the idea that we're supposed to be totally unified on most anything, you're only setting yourself up for disaster. Why? People don't operate under a hive mind, that's why.

Both. You'll rarely see even wild animals who aren't assholes on some level or another. Dispute and "assholeness" are normal across the entire animal kingdom.

Oh okay. Yeah you're right. It just gets a little annoying to deal with an asshole but what can you do. I can either ignore or tell that person off.

Well, some people are rude and arrogant people. I sure am.

That's not necessarily a good thing, but it's a thing.
