You pulling your hair out because you can't find volume 12?

Frustrated because people are charging £200 for volume 32?

Can't find the books new because you scared of the condition of what you'll get if bought used?

FEAR NOT FRIENDS!

Read away.

If Dark Horse was a person I'd hug them till they turned blue.

This is good to know. I don't think anything should ever go out of print, so it's nice that they're bringing back the classics.

Aw hell yeah! It is kinda weird that they aren't doing them in order or anything, but maybe these are the most wanted? Although I can totally see why volume 12 is wanted, that volume is damn important!

I've put aside some cash just for the Berserk volumes .. I know for a fact sellers will buy them in bundles and try to rip us off by reselling them at some ridiculous price.

And thus begins my struggle.

Should I buy it? Should I not? Can I even afford it?

Being a Berserk fan brings you nothing bu misery, I tell you.

Tell me about it. I actually searched really hard finding a figure of guts in berserk armor that wouldn't cost a fortune. Luckily I did end up with one. I guess if you're not getting any other merchandise maybe getting a few volumes wouldn't be so bad.

At the same time though, I'm not even sure the manga is the best way to enjoy Berserk even, or at least not an ideal way. I dunno if you've seen other posts from me detailing this, but I talk a lot about how every incarnation of Berserk is riddled with problems. The manga is what people cite as the best one, but it suffers from several pacing issue *cough*boat*cough* and has probably my least favourite character in the story, Puck. The anime omits Puck and uses some brilliant watercolor stills (which was a genius way of translating Miura's pseudo-lithographic style into a coloured medium btw) but it only follows a single arc, and has some stiff as hell animation. The films suffer from the same problems as the anime (though the animation is below par for different reasons) but as I recall they also cut out some of my favourite smaller scenes from the anime. Oh, and there's that new thing, but I think you can guess what my opinion on that is.

Basically what I'm getting at is that it's rough being a Berserk fan. You never win.

Huh well you bring up an interesting point about the series at least the adaptations. My main gripe the animated adaptations is two of them just really focus the golden age arc when I prefer the black swordsman arc. Even then the new one I'm not a great fan of what they did. Well either way I like Puck sooo not sure what to do on that. Personally I prefer the manga and the berserk games are actually pretty good for what tbey are. Not sure about the musou one though.

Edit: i have no clue how to chain quote.

To be honest I never really played the games aside from Guts' rage and it was... horrible.

Really? I enjoyed Gut's Rage and I thought that was pretty well recieved but it's definetly a matter of preference.

The ps2 one in my opinion was great and nicely animated for the ps2 but it was import/japanese only.
