Like many others, I am going to stray from the original topic of "most visually appealing" and mention something that hasn't been mentioned.

Guilty Crown. Not only is it visually stunning, the storyline and characters are compelling and the OST is beautiful.

It's already been mentioned, but Grimgar: Of Fantasy and Ash Has to be one of the most beautiful anime ever. The earlier post had a gif from the opening scene. When I watched the show, that scene got me hooked immediately. It's just so beautiful, from the backgrounds and characters, to the animation (except for one or two weird mistakes where a character went cross-eyed, and a directorial error where a helmet disappears and reappears for no reason). I've rewatched it twice purely for the artwork- although I liked the show for other reasons, too. It's a kind of fantasy slice-of-life with a little action thrown in, fyi.

There are other great ones, too, of course. Fate/Stay Night with all its glory, Gargantia on the Verduous Planet and its vivid colors, and the slightly more realistic Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit all come to mind.

I was actually rewatching Grimgar here, and just wanted to put its name out on the forums. So I was going to make this thread if it didn't already exist, haha.

Just to clarify
That's Garden of Words, correct?

For me, No Game No Life.

Anime as of now is a little to bright and colorful, but somethings use it well and with the right nuance. This is one.

Anything KyoAni, obviously
Angel Beats

Shaft too (Madoka, Monogatari)

Older cell shaded stuff looks nice, though that's probably just because it's a nice change of pace.

Best anime that was orgasmic to my eyes is Mob Psycho 100. Loved the different art styles and animation.
