Anyone else had this problem? I wake up today to a message on my tablet stating Crunchyroll app has malware.

Same problem here. I was fine until I updated to the latest version of the app this morning.

Webroot Secure Anywhere is flagging it as malware too when I tried to install the upgrade. Uninstalling until I get an explanation.

there should be an option to white-list CR. false-positives are fairly common (it's possible the app became infected, but seems unlikely)
edit: this goes without saying, but make sure the CR app came from the play store

Yeah, I noticed the same thing on my phone, also using Avast. Uninstalled for now, ran a scan of both Avast and Malwarebytes, just to be safe, both of which came up clean. I'd also guess is it was a false positive, as it seemingly came out of nowhere, but you can never be too careful! Hopefully someone figures out if it was indeed a false positive or something legitimate.

Hi all,

Could you provide the following information to help us identify the problem?

Device Type:
OS Version: Your OS version is in the Settings "app" -> General -> About.
Antivirus Name:
Antivirus Version:
Error message: (if your antivirus gives one)

Also do let us know if any strange behavior occurs, such as strange files/apps appearing that you didn't intend to install. It is possible that this is a false positive but always good to be safe.

Thanks much!

Same here, update and malware detected using Avast!. @fwoomster are you a moderator? Fairly certain mods have a specific title or badge, if you are, sorry to question. Possible to submit a ticket instead? Or at least a rollback option to revert to the previous version until the bugs are worked out with the update? No problems at all with the previous version, only change I can tell are more permissions.

fwoomster is a staff member.
The title/badge isn't mandatory for staff members.

ah okay, @shinryou thank you.

samsung galaxy tab 2
lollipop 5.1.1
avast mobile security
version 5.7.2
Malware detected and then just gives the options to resolve issue by uninstalling or ignore the issue all together. The app doesn't seem to behave any differently than normal, just throws a flag on my antivirus for malware. The only thing I've noticed, with the previous version and this version, is some shows in my queue have pictures from other shows instead of the show that it actually is i.e. poco's udon world is showing the picture for scorching ping pong girls currently. Once I close and reopen the app or scroll up and back down to reload the thumbnails for the shows it corrects itself. Also, the first time having any issues with the app at all.

Device Type: Samsung Galaxy S7
OS Version: Your OS version is in the Settings "app" -> General -> About. 6.0.1
Antivirus Name: Avast and Webroot.
Antivirus Version: Avast 5.7.2 Webroot 3.9.1.7744
Error message: i don't have the message, it just said the application contained malware and gave a name. I'll try to reinstall and get it.

Did a fresh install, no error message. Scanned with both apps, no infection. Seems like it was something in the upgrade.

The fresh install seemed to fix it for me too.
