Yes Nintendo now has a lot of new licenses for the NX including Skyrim. I hope runs as good as for pc and other consoles.

Wow they must be going all out for this and probably cost them a lot of money to get new licenses and everything.

I havent gotten a next gen console yet still have a xbox 360 and The Wii (not wii U) Seriously might get this instead of a xbox one or ps4.

Rumour has it it's only going to be $299 so if that's true you should definitely go for it.

Posted this in the General Disc. thread but I guess I'll put it here as well since they're letting multiple threads rock for the moment at least.

I can appreciate the concept, but I just don't see it really applying to me personally. Taking the system with me just isn't something I'd be that into doing so I'd likely just end up with it connected to the dock with a Pro controller connected the vast majority of the time. Of course, there's nothing specifically wrong with that but it sort of sidesteps the main intended functionality and design of the device. It would just end up being a new Nintendo home console to me and I haven't purchased a Nintendo console since the GameCube which I barely played (I did own a Wii for a short time but didn't buy it myself and only played it a handful of times).

I'm also not really sold on the actual legitimate functionality of the device in a real world setting. As others have said, how long is the battery going to last especially with a need to connect to/power the controllers/wirelessly connect to other Switch units/etc.? How functional is the device really honestly going to be for more than one player on such a small screen? How comfortable is the controller/bridge unit going to be without a Pro controller (it looks pretty bad in the video)? How much power will the system have given that it's essentially a portable system? There's a lot of questions that a flashy promo video doesn't really touch on. To be fair, of course, I don't expect a reveal video to get into the nitty gritty but that doesn't mean the questions aren't hanging in the air.

At the end of the day, however, it really comes down to the games. I just don't find myself caring about Nintendo's first party offerings any more. I'm sick of Mario, Mario spinoffs, occasional Zelda retreads, etc. I want something that really feels new and interesting. I also want to see if the Switch is as was previously rumoured going to be region free. If it is, that alone will be a huge boon to me, especially given Nintendo's propensity to heavily edit the titles that make it out of Japan. Give me games and I'll consider a purchase. Be just another Nintendo console and I'm out.

I think the controllers are going to be peoples main issue with the console/handheld. Seems pretty weird.

Overall I'm kinda interested in how the 3DS will do. With this obviously being a console/handheld hybrid that uses Cartridges, it'll be in direct competition more or less to the 3DS, which has been doing pretty well. Honestly though If I could play Sun and Moon on my monitor or TV, I would.

I don't give a pig's ass about what gimmicks/functionalities it has or if it's less powerful than the others. It comes down to two things for me; idiotic SJW censorship and region locking. Should either one disappear, I'll consider "switching". As for games.. I don't care much about the third party support, I buy Nintendo systems for the exclusives anyway.

Looks like there's actually going to be third party support on the platform this time? It's about time.

Apparently it won't be backwards compatible.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-10-21/nintendo-switch-will-not-be-compatible-with-wii-u-discs-3ds-cards/.107951

It looks like backwards compatibility in the modern industry is officially gone

If it''s using cartridges, it's a bit pointless to put a disc drive on it. It'll just raise the cost.

seems better than the the rumored NX to be quite honest. the console seems pretty convenient to use:
you can simply attach it to some peripheral and it automatically switches to home-console mode, or you can take it with you.
the controllers are detachable, which means you don't have to keep holding the display (which might be heavy if you want to play for a long time). no information on the actual specs / battery life, but from the video, it seems to be at least as good as the Wii U in terms of graphics capability. whether it's comparable / better than a PS4, i'm not too sure.

In terms of specs, the only thing confirmed so far is that it will use a custom nVidia Tegra APU.

True. Hopefully I can transfer my digital library to the switch at least (but probably not)

^ possible. I'm sure Virtual Console will make its way to the Switch. But whether you have to purchase them again or not, I don't know.

it's pretty much but useless imo

since all i saw are some paid actors using the system

give us the specs and price

the only time we can tell if it will fail or not is when the system comes out and we had plenty of time testing it..

DENA studio is pulling out of the west.. so that's one down

I'm excited to see what Spike Chunsoft and From Software bring to the table. Danganronpa and Dark Souls would be great gets (is there any sort of console exclusivity for Danganronpa? I know it's on PC).

Nothing shown has me jumping for joy yet though. Also not sold on the functionality of the second screen (I liked how you could have both screens active with WiiU so you could throw all the HUD info on the Gamepad screen to clear off the clutter on the TV screen; also, I hope there's still a stylus for drawing and the internet)

There are rumors of region free, so let's hope that's true.

So it's a PSP...

More like a PS Vita + PS Vita TV.

If they can make it at least as capable as the Wii U with some modern touches like HDR then it will be very good indeed.

They just need a architecture setup up to encourage image quality, frame rate and shaders. Geometry can take a back seat this time around.

Give it an acceptable battery life, reasonable base price tag, decent online community+store and easy development process and Nintendo might have a success on their hands.

Il be honest when i first saw it i thought it was pretty swell, but later on i had more thoughts about it and this thing is what the Wii U should had been.

To me this thing is already a failure its not going to be as powerful i doubt it be as powerful as the Xbox One or PS4 i also herd some rumors that the RAM is only 4GB which is already a problem and its using a NVIDIA Tegra pretty much a Tablet really.

I dont like the controllers they are far to small and i have big hands, i pretty much had the same issue with the PS3 controllers size that thing with me was a nightmare to hold.

The screen im sure will have touch but thats not something i care about either, the console to me "This is me personally" is another gimmick its more of the same all they had to do was just make a powerful box and ditch the gimmicks thats it they got the pro controller right the inspiration is clearly Microsoft cause the Xbox 360 controller is a great controller and it slaughters the Xbox One controller as well.. yes the Xbox One controller is the inferior controller.

It wont compete with Scorpio and it wont compete with PS4 Pro developers want more power and this i doubt will have the power they want and will it sell? We will have to wait and see.

Also they showed of Skyrim and NBA but the developers did not even confirm these games for the Switch.. which is already misleading consumers.

Me personally im not a fan of it i like the name but the console to me is trash.
