I don't like the disposable era of electronics to be honest

looks like a tablet + controllers + docking station

when the batteries died i guess that's it for the system ? unless they use removable AAA batteries..

so this system has a life cycle of 3-4 years?

i thought console life cycle is around 7 years.. with support well into 10+ years.

You can get replacement batteries for the 3DS, so I don't see why it wouldn't be the same here.

That's precisely why DEC invented the VAX cluster: because desktop workstations are heavily limited in performance and... wait

Comparatively speaking, a regular console has fewer form-factor limitations (and a PC less than that, a computer cluster even less, and so forth and so on), they all use the same nuts and bolts, it's mostly about how much space you've got for them.

Things like computer clusters and cloud computing sidestep that problem (it doesn't actually go away) using LAN / WAN data connections.

If you'd read my entire post you'd even see I touched on that:

It doesn't actually remove the problem, but cloud computing is where mobile is likely ultimately headed, since it sidesteps the form-factor limitations. Nintendo's Switch doesn't do that though, so it fully suffers from the limitations of its mobile form-factor.

This is why early reports indicate it's only as powerful as 3+ year old consoles instead of the ones that are coming out alongside it.

To reiterate, I'm not saying it's a bad product, I mean hell I even said it looks like a fairly smart move for Nintendo.

the screen is definitely a tablet which means the battery might be non-removable..

and depend on use these lithium batteries have the life cycle around 2-3 years.. or maybe less

i guess we will know more about the system in the later months

This is a good move from Nintendo. Even if it's only a little better than the Wii U it terms of graphics, as long as they nail the control layout and online community they could entice some of the third parties to release games even after the initial launch window. They'll already have Japanese devs since because of Pokemon. So MH, DQ, and YW will follow. They just need to make their dev suite easy enough to get Western teams to release low spec ports on it.

It's a good reveal but they'll need more than the years old ports and sports games they typically get with any launch of a new system.

As a matter of fact, word on the street is that it will have analog triggers, which finally opens Nintendo up to the world of racing sims. If it has a touch screen and the screen can be used without the attachments then it can have mobile ports for days. Two hypotheticals that could broaden Nintendo's appeal.

And when the mobile device's limitations exceed people's expectations, nobody will give a shit. A tiny few dickheads will sit in their basements shrieking about theoretical limitations and the rest of the world will walk around not caring.

I swear to blob if they don't release Smash on this because it's perfect not the 3DS version(obviously) but the WII U version adding and combining some things at the same time like all of the stages from both versions, Smash Run, and the Ice Climbers returning for this thing should be powerful enough. Overall, If they're releasing Splatoon and MK8 on this, which are 2 AAA titles, then releasing Smash on this would be a no-brainer.

Not a clue but they'd be smart to sell it for $300 or less.

I just hope it has more than 30 or so games, which was the reason I skipped out on the Wii U....

No, no, no

Go to your room and think about what you've just done. Only people down south make terrible puns like that.

I like everything except for the stupid name and the Joycon controllers. I feel like they'll be so small and hard to use when your in 2 player mode. Fingers crossed for a long battery life~

Word on the street is the screen is the same size as the Wii U's and infrared functionality. I'm confident the tablet portion will have motion and touch.
