I think Dir en grey is great. They started out as visual kei nearly 20 years ago and have evolved overtime into something sinister. Not a single lineup change in all their years, either. They put their souls into it and sound great. Kyo, especially. Several surgeries to his throat and he still won't quit giving us that voice.

Cage is a beautiful song, you could start with that. Their sound ranges from beautiful to harsh.

I love Dir en Grey, absolutely. They are great musicians, and Kyo is one helluva frontman.

I also love some of the J-rock bands that have been around even longer like Buck Tick and X-Japan; Even L'arc~en~ciel has been around a long long time.

I'm always a little bit surprised, though, when I find out people haven't listened much to Plastic Tree. I think they're really a fabulous group.

Another great one is Kagrra. Isshi, their lead singer, died a few years ago, and I was heartbroken.

Oh man. I once owned a compilation album featuring Kagrra, Lycaon and one other band that I forget the name of. They were so great. But Buck Tick is way up on my list. Gessekai is a wonderful song. And X-Japan is just legendary .

Sounds like I need to search for this compilation album. I don't think I ever ran across that one.

Gotta love the originals though. Don't get me wrong, I still come across stuff once in a while that piques my interest, but I can sit and listen to bands like X-Japan and Buck Tick and never get bored.
