So for those who have finished the anime/game, you know Saber's true identity in the anime/game, right? I don't see a thread discussing about this. Why is it so?

When the anime revealed little by little about cute Saber's identity through the sword Excaliburn, I actually thought she was Queen Guinevere. Probably she stole excalibur from Arthur.. haha..

However, as it is, Saber is revealed as the very King Arthur himself. Now, answer my question.. How can a King be a girl??? I know Queen Elizabeth, but Queen Arthur?

^ Why should it be closed? If they want to discuss about it then I think let them.

Servants are mere copies of the real things. They are not exactly like the real ones. So a copy can change and in this case he changed into a girl. Also every servant just happened to be different sex from their masters... What are the chances??!

I own the game, read the Fate/Side Material, played trough Fate/Hollow Ataraxia and many more. (Like talked it with "professionals.") So if I would want to know more then there aren't many ways.

Not really the servant's sex is fixed. And not all servants are opposite sex of the theirs masters who summoned them. Rider for example, her real master is Sakura. She just gave her command mantra to shinji because she doesn't want ti fight shiro and rin. And also gilgamesh, his master was rin's father before he formed and pact with kirei.

And here's my call from Wikipedia.. hehe..

True identity

Her full name is Arturia Pendragon, and her creation as a character was inspired by the legends of King Arthur. Arturia is the daughter of British King Uther Pendragon and Igraine, a former Duchess of Cornwall. At her nativity, Uther realizes his subjects will never accept a female as a legitimate ruler, and decides to not publicly announce Arturia's birth or gender. She is entrusted by Merlin to a loyal knight, Sir Ector, who raises her as a surrogate son. When Arturia is fifteen, King Uther dies, and with no known eligible heir to the throne, Britain enters a period of turmoil following the growing threat of invasion by the Saxons. Merlin soon approaches her, explaining that the British people will recognize her as a destined ruler if she withdraws Caliburn, a ceremonial sword embedded in a large slab of stone. However, pulling this sword is symbolic of accepting the hardships of a monarch, and Arturia will be responsible for preserving the welfare of her people. Without hesitation, and despite her gender, she draws Caliburn and shoulders Britain's mantle of leadership.

So you see, this makes up for the Queen Arthur mess-up i made.. ^^

I meant the lates war. And I forgot about the Shinji/Sakura. And when I said "what are the chances" I meant that Grail generates a random copy of the heroic spirit and he/she can have many kind of differences from the original. But somehow everybody got different sex. (Exept Sakura and the last war masters.)

.... Wow i so didn't know that saber was arthur, enough sarcasm the whole K.A being female was not a creation of type-moon, it has been in many British novels made years before FSN and maybe even type-moon itself and beside saber is only loosly based on king Arthur i mean she drew Caliburn from the stone, Caliburn was the first English term used for Calaborg but it was " Latinized " into Excalibur, and everyone knows Exalibur was from a lake....

Calaborg was her first weapon and she/he got the Excaliburn later from the lake. Totally different weapons.
(Well as you said, but more simply put.)

V -I am quite sure that I read somewhere that the Caliburn and Excaliburn were different swords but in the end that doesn't matter that much...

Actually in FSN calaborg is a totally different weapon, and before i was talking about the actually myth of Excalibur just to prove how loosely related the Arthur in fate is to the legendary Arthur. but no caliburn and Excalibur were not different weapons, just different words for the same item, argh how can i explain.

Legend

(sword from the stone)It is just called the sword in the stone

(sword from the lake)Calaborg(welsh)----- Caliburn(first old English translation) --------------- Excalibur(adapted version)

Fate

(Sword from the stone) Caliburn

(Sword from the lake) Excalibur

(next random drill thingy) Calaborg

(As you can see type-moon has taken the three different translation from the sword given to Arthur by the LOL( Lady of the lake) and used them as different swords, very confusing for noobs, like you Henri (joke))
