I've always wanted to know why anime fans like anime in particular. Explain why you do, and give it some thought.

I'd appreciate more than "cute boyz xD"

Thank You

I feel like it allows for more imagination and creativity than a live TV show. I also hate watching actors, they seem so fake to me, so I like seeing the animated characters. I also can't understand Japanese, so they're voices don't really seem fake to me. And, a lot of anime just have really good stories.

I like it for its otherness. The feeling is as if I had found some hidden treasure. It goes where nothing else dares to go. There is immense emotional potential to be experienced. I'm amazed by the ideas and dedication that have gone into anime. There is little else in entertainment that I consider to be so powerful. Anime has been greatly misunderstood and that just makes it all the more appealing to me.

Anime can be a deeply beautiful and enlightening experience. It makes me wish that I could rediscover it allover again.

Because I wanted to extend my taste in cartoons/animation, which have been part of my life for ages.

Anime characters and thus their seyuu act way better than tv series actors. Ofc not all of them, but most yeah. Also I prefer the 20m format. Don't really have the patience to sit for 40m to watch an episode unless it's GoT or Vikings.

Because real life is boring and every anime girl ever has always been a solid 8 AT LEAST.

I'm getting kinda tired of them making characters unrelatable to though. Oh and piss poor plot.

Hmm-hm... I suppose there's... something that makes me to watch anime. Because of that, i find myself watching anime more than TV. My life got better after i "discovered" the world of anime.

And of course there's that it can be teachful in many ways. Whetever it makes you want to learn japanese or find their culture or such interesting.

Animated storytelling is real. Tv shows/movies aren't.

I like all animation from the art perspective. I watch anime lately because it has wider genres available at present. I also think that you get more out of imagination from animation.

Honestly? Habit.

After 10+ years, I can tell what I'll like in an anime, and whether I should watch it or not waste my time, better than in a book or a movie. Most of the books and movies I've tried to sit through have been boring, stupid, or just insulting. There are so many books on the shelf and only so many that you have time to read that... it gets sort of discouraging after a while to sort through all of these things that really do look the same from the outside, to try to find one that's actually good.
Meanwhile with anime, I know the tropes, I know the genres... honestly, anime is more familiar to me than other media, since I've watched more anime than anything else for over half my life.

Also? Cute boys <3

Seriously, though, almost all anime characters are hot. If you expected hotness from characters in American books, the authors would be insulted. That, or they're all the same sort of rugged Scottish-highland hot, which... isn't everyone's type. Actually, no media other than anime has characters like the ones in the anime I like (e.g. K, Code Geass, Touken Ranbu. See my userpic.)
. . . . . I'm writing novels, but my characters are all cute anime boys.

Edit: Aaaand, I think animation has more potential than any other medium, except possibly live theater (and live theater combined with animation <3 (https://youtu.be/LCTbTJz0XVs?t=1m30s)). I think it's sad that only Japan makes such a variety of quality animation, and I don't want that to continue to be the case.
I want anime to become international, because I want viewers everywhere to appreciate it, and I want artists and writers everywhere to recognize its potential and have the opportunity to work in it.

It's better than watching the horrible TV shows we have on our networks. I enjoy watching Anime for it's amazing art styles and it's animation. The plots aren't all random like in American cartoons. I love it.

I don't prefer anime to any other form of entertainment, so nothing really comes to mind.

The things I like best in anime are things I like in video games, movies, books, and so on. The only thing I can think of that anime and manga hold over other forms of media is the josei genre; it's hard to find good series targeted at an older female audience. It's near exclusively things like Bridget Jones' Diary. I don't dislike it, but Western stories with an older male audience range wildly in genre and tone. I get a bit more of that with josei than I do with chick flicks, so it's nice.

I like the storyline to a lot of these animes. Also, I feel you get a lot more of various personality types.
