Kind of a basic inquiry but I'm looking for a reliable place to purchase full soundtracks for anime. I've only recently began scouring the internet for my favorites so I'm a little skeptical as to where to buy. I'm just curious as to what places all of you considerable reputable or even moreso reliable for finding licensed soundtracks. I like knowing I'm supporting a franchise I truly enjoy and do my best to spend my money on 1st-party merchandise I just dont wanna end up buying some BS bootleg copy on accident or even spend an unnecessary amount of time looking when I could be listening If it helps at all I'm currently looking for the soundtrack to Anohana, Kiznaiver, and Madoka Magica. Those 3 are just off the top of my head but I'd really appreciate you letting me know where you guys go for your anime soundtrack needs because I wont be stopping anytime soon

Imports are fine as long as they are legit and function. There's gotta be a good way to find these soundtracks.. RIGHT?!

Just wanna bump this up again, I may make a post in the music section if nothing comes to light here. CDjapan seems pretty good although they don't have everything I'm looking for. If anyone can offer any more suggestions please do!

What format are you looking for the soundtracks to be in? Because I know a couple of places online where you can buy physical copies of some anime soundtracks in CD form that are legitimate sites. Also, you mentioned Madoka specifically, so I'll give you the link for a well run Yuki Kajiura, the woman who composed the music for Madoka, fan site that has links where you can buy official CDs of the music that she's composed for anime. I'll have to tell you it might be hard to find the Madoka ones now though. https://canta-per-me.net/links/

To be honest I think I might've discovered one of the major snags in my searches thus-far. I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before but it seems a lot of the content I'm looking for was not only distributed a while ago as you mentioned with Madoka Magica, but the listings for such CD's is actually translated Japanese script. That is to say, as a lot of what I buy is being imported, many sites that cater to English-speaking scrubs such as myself only go so far as to write out listings using the English alphabet instead of editing the listing itself to make it more "search-friendly." It's a bit more of a process but through the use of Wiki and other synonmous sources for original listings of CD/DVD/BD I've been able to find some of the 'proper' titles for these albums/Maxi CD's.

As a side note I'm kind of surprised how many tracks are sometimes on their own CD, perhaps due to popularity or whatever but it gets expensive since a lot of these 'sold-separately' tracks are the best

Back to my point though, I hadn't initially thought about the fact that a lot of these albums weren't ever licensed or sold in the U.S./other English-speaking countries. It makes perfect sense that listings, even translated, would still only reflect the Japanese syllables they were derived from unless they were licensed to be sold in English-speaking nations; which a lot of these CD's are not. Soon as I got to the bottom of it I felt silly, I just get kinda stuck in my cultural bubble sometimes hehe. Madoka is still on the list for sure though, it may have been a few years but it has a wonderful score that I wouldn't have expected from such an anime, despite the tone. In the best way I was overwhelmed by the effort placed into its musical choreographing.

Anyone wanna recommend another anime with fantastic OST keep me posted, I'm all ears :D

I tend to find out of print anime soundtracks used on EBay, Amazon and Amazon Japan (It's possible to shop there easily with a browser translating app such as Google Translate). It's almost impossible to find them in new condition at a price less than a left lung and firstborn child though. Even used can sometimes be pricey depending on the rarity. My favorite anime soundtrack is definitely Sawano's Aldnoah.zero Soundtrack although his Guilty Crown and Platina Data soundtracks are great too.
