I wish the mod(s) would end troll-thread spam.

Some of those are mine, I confess--I'm reporting some of my own "mean" Deyre-Must-Go posts back to Lorreen literally with the reason "Report THIS."

It's All On Her now for the question of who she wants to make the Villain in this issue.

To be clear, that LAST line was mine. The rest was Lorreen's

In other words, she removed Deyre's NAME from the header. So it's not like we were being "mean" to HIM, you see...

(Okay, spill it, Lor--What was the payoff deal? Free herring for a year? A keg of Carlsberg?)

To me, it's less about Deyre and more of a jab at me for calling her out. She simply demonstrated she could change my thread as she pleased.

If it WERE about Deyre, his name wouldn't have been moved to my OP.

See, because I wasn't being mean to Deyre. I was asking for an end to his trolling spam threads, that's all. And she knows that. Other mods know that. Anyone with a brain knows that.

So, this was more of a show of force.

To which, my response is:
Until she stops inappropriately using her power, I will not give my money to CR. I get anime elsewhere. SHE is the problem, or rather the primary symptom of the problem. Therefore, show of power or no, there's little that can actually be done to deter me. If I was paying a sub, making a new account would actually bother me. I'm not, and it doesn't. That being said, I've never been banned, because I've never done anything to justify such action.

Up to now, now that CR is on the PS3 app without the Premium subscription, I was looking for an excuse to drop my monthly $6.99.
(I'm usually late with currently airing shows until they start to get a little good discussion, so I don't need next-day simulcasts, and the worst I was worried about was losing the dubbed Cardcaptor Sakura. I was already watching free-with-ads CR on iPad, and unlike some Hulu-haters, I'm fine with that.)

But you've just given me my excuse. Drummer, you've got a DEAL.
Anyone else, let's keep this going until it gets noticed.
BTW, the site asks you for "Reasons why canceling Premium". You'll never guess what I'm putting down.

Because obviously if someone made a thread that trash talked you they should be allowed to do so, and if a mod stops them from doing so it's an abuse of power.

There are a few users that post mostly troll related or dumb garbage, and seeing so much of it in the forums makes me not want to lurk around at all. Mostly I just end up in here, glance over the first page, see that most of it is trash, and then go watch my damn shows. I wish we could get better threads in here. Or at least more mature stuff rather than obvious troll attempts that go on far too long and are allowed far too often for reasons I can't even understand.

Yah know, Lorreen is pretty damn lenient compared to other forums--even other moderators on this forum. The fact she allows this thread to continue like this really demonstrates that. She could have just closed it. Most forums would.

Moderators protect individual users and are not allowed to show favoritism--if anything her not taking action really demonstrates her unwillingness to please over her better judgement. Lorreen's neutral behavior is rather appreciated by some. It doesn't matter if you feel valid in your complaints or not. Issues with individual members are best handled in private. It's pretty standard etiquette.

These threads are nothing. You could just ignore them and move on--heck even flood with what you think are better threads. The members in the end are the ones to decide which ones they feel are worth posting on. Frankly, people do post on them and some discussion is had whether intended or not by the OP.

Those threads can be rather grey in that it's possibly trolling or perhaps not. When you're in the position to decide whether to punish or not, it's better to play it safe than sorry. There really isn't any harm in letting them go in this instance aside from upsetting those that choose not to ignore them.

I'm new here.

honestly, i can't tell the difference between the chit chat forum and the general discussion

yes.. i noticed a lot of threads where the creator just posted a short question and then ask the readers to discuss

i'll not bother with most of those threads (unless it's a topic i have something to add to the discussion)

i guess there are those who like to post a bunch of these "ask" threads without answer these questions or providing his/her own opinion on the topic to get the conversation/discussion moving..

this is like NSA is gathering personal information of the users or something ??
but thanks to this thread at least i know who the person in question is.... and yes. i noticed a lot of threads from that one user

just don't reply to the threads and those threads will be pushed down by other threads

Well, that's a really strange view of trash talk.

He is actually making troll-threads. I asked that mods put a stop to the troll threads.

That's not trash talking. I mean, ONLY as an example, talking trash would be: So-in-so is a moron. He seems like someone who got banned for be completely obnoxious to others who had different beliefs than him. After his ban, he made another account and created a ton of troll threads that individually could not be worthy of action, but as a whole point to outright harassment of the forums. It's an obvious act of immaturity. He probably still lives with his parents and has no girlfriend/boyfriend. Actually, now that I think about it, it's so sad I really just feel sorry for him. Ignore me, let the poor sap continue his troll-thread spam.

See the difference?

First of all, let's stop abstracting the subject--It's Deyre. He's trolling. He's BORED with how easy he's trolling. He, for various neurological reasons Lorreen thinks is "mean" to point out, is in his own world where he believes he's the group's #1 Hoot for trolling. He thinks we can't wait to read the next one.
It's not an issue of "Maybe he has a serious point about whether Kurt Cobain would vote for Trump if he was Jewish!"...He's trolling. To kid yourself any other way would be imaginary and sad.

Now, Moderators have to be fair...But they have to be fair in order to keep peace on the group. Which means you can be banned for being disruptive to the conversations. Even if (ahemraisedinacult) you might happen to be perfectly earnest in being a nut, if your presence in a thread is damage to the smooth flow of conversation, that is being Disruptive.
And that is against the Forum Rules. And as detailed earlier, Forum Rules are LITERALLY the only Rules around here. Don't cry "First Amendment", you signed those rights away yourself the day you registered.
If the Moderator feels that a thread is going in the wrong direction and causing disruption, that thread can be locked to prevent further arguments. A rule-breaking poster can be banned for a day, week, month, or life. Even without breaking rules, a Moderator can "interpret the spirit of the Rules" and do what they can to prevent any further disruption in the conversation.

Lorreen has locked no Deyre threads. She has removed his name from threads that were accusing him of being disruptive. She has often been the only one to come to his defenses that his threads were probably "genuine", even when they were cynically lazy, uninformed, and just plain strange, even for deliberate provocative trolling. In private comments to me, she even pointed out his posts were "strange", but were still convinced they were "Colorful discussion topics", i.e.. that they were good for us to have around.
And any posters who expressed disagreement, and objection to his being on the board, she has accused of being "mean", and banned the accuser, not the accused.

Lorreen is PROTECTING Deyre. I do not for the life of me know why, but there is no other conclusion to be drawn.
My only conclusion is that from all the group hoo-hah that has gotten out of control, Lorreen has somehow retreated into some oversenstively abstract issue where she imagines that to pick on him is to pick on her, and all such "misunderstood" people she has imagined herself to be (we do have those problems with certain, ahem, other controversial forum topics), and that is patently false.
To protect any member from harm at the expense of other regular posters with solid discussion reputations is as much an abuse of Moderator power as to deliberately target any poster. The issue of the group comes first, and the most vocally expressed majority opinion seems to be that Deyre would be best not protected from harm. Whether we are allowed to do the harming instead is a quite different issue, and also against the rules--
In the interest of Forum Rules, the only answer is to turn the disputed figure off like a switch and remove him from the equation. Period, f***in' period.

And if Lorreen wants to pursue the issue to "It's him or ME!", as has been expressed so far in this thread...we're fine with EITHER option.
Right now, all we want is Whatever Does the Job.
And then our happy little group will have peace again. Which is the stated purpose of a Moderator who does their duties properly.

You have a point I suppose, but you still shouldn't make threads targeting specific users. Also what's so wrong about not having a girlfriend or boyfriend?
