Piracy is a big deal, especially for companies. I recently seen a few statistics that showed millions of dollars lost to piracy. Is that really the case? Because I for one do pirate a lot of anime, but I also buy pretty much everything that I pirate. So my piracy is not a loss of sale for the companies. The question is: Do you solely pirate your anime? Or do you buy it as well?

While we are on the subject, do you think piracy should be completely gotten rid of?

No, no, and no. In no particular order.

It's not pirating if you watch it online. Also, anime on DVD and Blu-Ray cost 60$ and 70$ at the highest price. So, never buying anime DVD or Blu-ray.

So how do you watch anime? Subscriptions? I would count that as buying it.........technically speaking.

And I count watching it on illegal website as pirating; you are not paying for it.

I try to support anime as much as I can. Sometimes there are anime that are so old and/or obscure I have no choice but look to a free, less than legit, streaming service.

In these cases, I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong, because I COULDN'T buy them.

However, if given the option to support the industry I always take that choice.

I've also been known to stream things that I own from less than legit sites, because I have no dvd drive on my laptop, and I'm not going to pay for another copy just so I can watch it on a different screen than my television.

I mean through crunchyroll I give money to every show I watch, if I can watch it on Crunchy I will absolutely do so. However, I can't afford to buy streaming for every show I want to watch or order $60+ dvds to watch one season of an old show. Anything not on Crunchy I try to get a friend to loan me their account for another site but usually I just use kissanime.

Piracy is a big problem, I'm definitely no saint on it. I won't download anything though, that's my limit, I'll watch streams online but I'm not going to actually put anything on my computer.

I think Piracy is ultimately a problem that can't be truly solved or enforced against in any unproblematic way. I think that we can all make certain rules for ourselves, like not pirating from indie developers for video games for instance, because piracy can easily destroy start up studios and businesses and that kind of pirating is just not cool.

I only buy DVD and Blu-ray when they are on sale. One Piece is the only DVDs I buy to support the show FUNimation is pretty good on the pricing of that series

I used to before crunchyroll. I'd like to buy all of Kill la Kill but they are charging $40 for 3 episodes, fuck that. Plan on buying FMA:Brotherhood because it is well priced and many of my other favorites. Might even rip them off blu-ray then store them on my PC for easier retrieval.

I barely have any time to watch the legal stuff! *Points to MASSIVE DVD, Blu-Ray, CDs, manga, and novel mountains.* That's on top of the over 100 show queue on here. Piracy ain't happening for me! It's FUN having a full time job with an awful commute!

I pay for crunchyroll and buy anime dvds from time to time but I do goto illegal sites for some shows if they aren't available on here or for sale.

I have a different account on here that I pay premium for that I let my younger siblings use on their tablets (don't want them messing up or getting involved with my forum shenanigans). They hardly use it, and I don't at all, because I wait for blu-ray rips and pirate them. I only watch 1 anime per 3 months on average, and my siblings probably don't actually watch anything anymore. I throw enough money at CR through this nearly inactive account that I justify just getting the blu-rays, though honestly I wouldn't feel any guilt if I completely ignored my moral obligation to pay for anime in some way and just kept pirating every so often.
