Is it just me, or is Trunks's Japanese voice terrible?

I mean it doesn't even sound like a kid. It would sound much better on Japanese Oolong.

Edit: I goofed with the title. Too many commas.

Dunno don't watch it, I just know alot of English VA trying to voice kids probably sound just as terrible or worse from the few dubs I tried lately.

Trunk's voice isn't even the biggest problem with the Japanese voices.

Trunks is what you're worried about? Let's look at the bigger picture: GOHAN, GOKU, YAJIROBE. The voices for Super are more questionable than the US presidential election. I get that the voice actors may be from the same one from the original Dragon Ball, and that's respectable that they're still doing it. However, it's time to move on, cuz those voices were probably the best that you could get AT THE TIME. You can't keep living in the past forever.

That's the original VA who's been doing Goku since dragon ball though, mad respect. Honestly the voice sort of just grows on you, and really fits Goku's carefree attitude.

Goku's Voice Actress is terrible. Like I'm not sure why they thought an old lady would be a good fit. I'm sorry but it isn't

A lot of English speaking western DB fans are extremely biased since Dragon Ball was one of their first animes; normally, they watched it in English so they are very accustomed to those voices. Not to mention that many of them claim that it was a fairly good dubbing. (Honestly I don't have a clue on that since I didn't watch/don't like English dubbing).

That being said, DB Japanese VAs haven't changed much, Gokuh's VA, Nozawa Masako, like it or not, is the very same.

Yes, I know her role in dubbing Gokuh's voice has been a great bone of contention for many western fans over the years. Thing is, that even when Gokuh grew up, Japanese fandom "forced" TOEI into making her dub Gokuh again. That it was the right call? Honestly, I don't mind at all.

Back to the OP question, it depends on every person's tastes, I don't mind a single bit.

But, worry not, since if CR has the streaming rights, and with the Crunchy-Funi collaboration agreement they had recently, you might just wait for Funi to dub it in the near future.

My two cents.

For me, after watching the first arc of Dragon Ball (pilaf saga) in dub, I watched most of the rest in sub. I still find trunks Japanese voice atrocious. I've never heard a worse child voice in sub. I'm not comparing it to english dub, but rather other japanese subbed anime.

i didn't like goku/gohan/goten voice either

the characters are being voiced over by a female voice actress..

i love dragon ball manga and subbed anime but for anime of dragon ball z.. i didn't bother watching it.

i tried but after hearing Goku's japanese voice for 2-3 minutes i skipped to something else!

my reaction was the same as the voice of the muscular guy at the pool in Grown up movie

luffy's voice was also voiced over by a woman.. but luffy is a skinny, rubber guy .. and the voice didn't sound as bad imo
