I bought my Nexus 6P from Google and use the Fi program. I already have Nougat and I really don't notice that many differences.

I will say that I shall never, ever go back to a normal carrier and use one of their phones. Verizon was a nightmare. Not only do they charge a lot and their carrier phones come with crap you can't uninstall, they keep messing with my bills! I kept asking them to remove some "ringback" feature that played music while someone waits for me to pick up. Yeah it's just a couple of bucks a month, but I don't want it and they kept re-adding it! Infuriating.

I generally keep phones for a number of years. The idea of purchasing a new one every year or two feels crazy.

I get a new phone every 2-3 months... 1-2 years would drive me absolutely mad.
Speaking of, recently got an iPhone 7 Plus (just to have something different). I will say that damn button-not-button is kind of strange and I'm still not used to it yet. Rofl..

I just got 6.0 for my Droid Turbo (original) less than a month ago. Won't see Nougat until I get a new phone, and it better have a fucking headphone jack.

this is weird

they stated the Android N is now out for Nexus 6 users.. OTA update even.. but when i checked for update there's none.

have yet to receive the January 2017 security update either...

That's probably because you got it through T-Mobile. T-Mobile probably won't even bother updating the Nexus 6 to Android Nougat/7.
The best option is to manually flash it through the OTA update file (doesn't wipe), which can be found here.

Keep in mind that Android isn't much like Apple's iOS in regard to how updates are applied. Google doesn't have a direct "connection" to the carriers (except for the Pixel/Verizon) when the manufacturer is usually the one who pushes out updates (in this case, Google) and the carrier has to confirm that it works with all of their features. If you click on the first link (T-Mobile above), you'll see that T-Mobile's most frequent update is "MMB29K" (which is still Marshmallow, 6.0.1) from last month.

I get Google devices (Nexus/Pixel) so I can easily flash updates as they come out, not worry about when a carrier is going to push the OTA update.

i do have T-Mobile but i didn't buy the phone from them.. i got it from Amazon on black friday.

the updates i got were from google not t-mobile.. i got androi 6.0.1 on my phone way before t-mobile even approved of the OS on their phones..

i had samsung phones bought from T-mobile before and we don't get monthly update like the nexus 6..

i think my phone reached 3 year.. so no more update for the thing..

usually they will have OTA monthly update available around the 15.. it's 22nd.. and still no update..

My advice/suggestion stands: just flash the OTA yourself through the link I gave you. It gives you instructions as to how to do this too. Have you tried taking out your SIM card and connecting to Wifi to see if it registers an update? That's my only other suggestion as to how to get Nougat.

that article is old..

the build number for my phone atm is MOB31Q (which is not on the list below..:?)

android security patch level 12/5/2016

the nexus 6 came out in 2014.. so i think they might considered it 3 years.. so they stopped the monthly security patch..

i guess if i want to update the phone i have to do it manually..
https://developers.google.com/android/ota

as i looked further into this.. it looks like there are some glitches (battery problems) with android 7.0 on nexus 6..

guess i have to think about it..

It's not that difficult to do (flashing the OTA). I normally do a full wipe via factory images whenever I upgrade to a new version. Nexus 10 is on Nougat now too (which has a LOT of battery issues... but I only use it as a "notification display" for work emails and such).

you linked it it the word "here" i missed that.. my bad..

battery problem is a major concern though.. 5.96 in 1440p screen will eat up a lot of battery .. so i'll see if the problems are fixed before updating..

i use CyanogenMod and updated the spare phone we have lying around (Samsung Galaxy S3 with 6.0.1)

it's another alternative i could try.. since i like the option of reducing the resolution with Cyanogenmod..

I updated like 2 days ago (OnePlus3). I'm getting used to it.
The main noticeable change is that the battery is now draining faster.
I feel like the colors are more vivid, the design more neat, and there's more room for apps and gadgets.
I don't like how the notifications are displayed tho. That's all.

the battery does last longer with the android N.

I guess the delay was to fix the reported battery problem..

dual window for a 6in phone is pretty nice They don't make a lot 6in phones anymore. i can listen to the news (youtube) while checking my mail!
