While I did not start watching anime until I was in high school, middle school seems to be the time most people start watching. However, shows that where popular with that age demographic almost a decade ago (when I was in middle school) are probably no longer relevant. So which shows do you guys think are bringing new young people into the community?

Literally every popular shounen and the cute romance shoujo series and gay stuff like FREE or whatever the latest "lol we aren't gay really!!" show is.

It never changes.

Well I started in middle school watching all the mainstream shonens like Naruto, Fairy Tail, Hunter x Hunter, etc. and Attack on Titan and SAO (I loved em all except SAO)

Well, Hot Topic's got a lot of Tokyo Ghoul stuff on their website, so that'd be my best guess.

I feel like whatever anime is popular in middle school is what's popular everywhere else, be it high school or college. It's usually always shounen type stuff, things like Sword Art Online, Tokyo Ghoul, and Naruto were popular when I was in high school just a year ago. Now that I'm in college, it's really not much different.

My guess is popular Youtubers referencing or parodying animes since that's how I found out about them. Though they're usually portrayed in a negative way for entertainment purposes. So yeah, anything mainstream.

I don't know but in my observation, they talk about yaoi manga/animes these days...

And it's not only the girls, including straight men.

I know because I know some of them lol
