I never played Legend of Zelda before in my life. I want to play it. But first I need to know which game is perfect for people who never played Legend of Zelda. I need to know this so when I go and buy a console I know which one to get.

Please help me.

A 3ds will be the best system to experience zelda on. It has the first 2 games on virtual console as well as several others and it has the 4 swords remale, ocarina of time 3d, majora's mask 3d and a link between worlds. Due to the backwards compatibility with ds games you can also play the phantom hourglass and spirit tracks. I recommend starting with either the 3ds remake of ocarina of time or a link to the past, as those both set the standard for what the fandom now associates Zelda games, showing all the core principles that would define the series.

It's available on the Virtual Console for the Wii-U (which also has Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and the upcoming Breath of the Wild), or you can get a *New* Nintendo 3DS and buy it on Virtual Console there. It has to be the *New* Nintendo 3DS, though. You can also play Hyrule Warriors on either of those consoles, if you're into Dynasty Warriors-style gameplay.

Ocarina of Time obviously

For console, go 3DS if buying one so you can play a good chunk of them.

When your done, obviously play my favorite one: Majora's Mask, which is its direct sequel.

I mean you could play OoT or Majora's on either N64 or gamecube. (gamecube obviously has better graphics though)

I still strongly feel OoT is the best start point to get into the series, since that is where the rest of the games branch off from.

I suppose you could also play them in timeline order, meaning you would start with Skyward Sword on the Wii, but OoT is the most popular/best known one so if you start there you'd have the largest number of people to discuss the game with.
