I notice that where now less comments and reviews. I recently watched one season that was filled with comments with 500+ likes and the second season barely getting any likes.

Did something happen or a lot of people recently stop watching anime?

Are you scared or does it make you nervous?

From my side of it you cant even read the comments from the mobile browser. I use comments to gauge and help select my new shows and you cant even see comments or read them with out requesting a full site using chrome.

You're correct - there are those of us who were watching the first anime imports to the U.S., bad dubs, Americanized editing and all, in the 70's. We're still here and deeply amused about the 'anime is for children and teens only' attitude. Admittedly, older fans don't have the kind of time to devote to anime that we used to, and there's so much more available now. Not to sound like a cliché, but young anime fans have no idea just how good they have it.

That said, the original question about CR dying is pretty vague. Are we talking usage, or are we talking financially? Either would require disclosure on the part of management and their IT team, and I doubt they would provide confidential company info without a good reason (ie., a letter from the IRS).

Being 24 years old, it does feel weird that most of anime fanbase is kids.

Although first Japanese "animation" is dated as far as 1917, the anime we know started at the 60's.

So, with more than 50 years of anime, there is a wide range of age among anime fans. So if you hear ppl arguing anime is just for kids or only kids watch them, they're are gruesomely wrong. :3

I wouldn't say the whole site is dying, just the community which is too absent.

The short answer is no. Anime is only becoming cooler and better. The shows are great, there's tons of fun. I just think people spend less time on each other which is a shame. I host cell phone free parties, so that people are busy with each other instead of that bloody machine.

Not even close, actually, you are in the staggeringly vast majority.

Commenting is disabled on phones and other stuff. Half the time I have to watch things on my phone because my internet is such shit so I don't get to scroll through comments or anything like I can on my computer. I bet that's a lot of it, that people mostly watch on devices now rather than on PC.

Well that's is because many people already don't have time for anime. Because have to go to school.

I watched anime when I was in school. Taking 24 minutes to watch an episode is not much.

around 22-24 minutes the first episode

after that around 19-20 minutes each (if you chop off the OP and ED)

i don't bother rewatching the OP or ED the 2nd time .. unless the soundtrack is good to listen to. if not i'll just skip it

most anime is around 19-20 minutes long without the op+ed

but the recent one piece episode i would say 15-16 minutes

they are dragging it out too long

i started out with the anime but got bored of the it and now just read the manga instead

I don't think crunchyroll is dying.
But it's true that I've seen people become less active here.
Maybe because there's school? Work?
Or did they get tired making an effort to be on forums and comment on their favorite shows?

That's why I don't like to have this by app on my phone because I'm unable to comment on forums or reply to messages on my profile.
It is only convenient if I'm watching anime episodes, apparently I don't so I prefer the desktop view.

I was eating chips when I read this and I tried typing carefully without nudging the keys with grease and salt...
Damn, I had one job... and I failed miserably. So had to finish it quickly and toss it out so I can use both hands for typing this lol

At 750,000+ paid subscribers, I really don't think Crunchyroll is dying.

That being said, I'm like several other users: I watch most of my anime on my tablet nowadays (because even a bargain tablet typically has a gorgeous screen now), so there's not really much rating or commenting I can do.

CR is not dead, but these forums aren't quite as lively as I remember and the quality discussion threads has also hit an all time low if you ask me.
