Eh, a warrant typically just requires probable cause. It could be someone inside testifying to the police, it could be discovered discrepancies probably linked to them, it could be someone seeing what they wanted to see and reported it to the police. There's a pretty good chance the police are acting on a solid tip, but it's hard to say until actual details emerge.

there was fraud in the previous election (according to the article), so it stands to reason that they would take precautionary measures to ensure a fair election.

A search warrant is a bit beyond precautionary measures. Possible links from previous elections could be probable cause perhaps.
