Blown up or knocked up?

I know what choice anyone that didn't want to go to war would make. People aren't being very practical on this matter.

Drafting women would have to be exceptionally low risk--more like civilian duties.

Well for people who don't want to fight, the military should just make use of their skills in a non-combat role that supports the war effort anyways.

I'm sure the military could use engineers to design weapons, doctors to care for people, accountants to keep an eye on companies, and gender studies majors as cannon fodder.

*Note* the channel above is a political comedy news show..

but they brought up a valid point

i don't see why not...so pass the law

we could use more women on the front line.

I'm not gonna watch your video sorry but i'll give you the same answer my professor gave me.

Lets say you're in a group of 3 people including yourself. a male, a female, and yourself. You're on the front line and somehow a explosion happens, you wake up on the ground not hurt but dazed and you look around for your group. To your left you see the male much worse than you missing a foot and bleeding from his neck. to your right however is the female from your group bleeding and lets say she a lot more vocal about her pain (not to be sexist or anything) the male is clearly more hurt than the female but your instinct would/should probably be to go for the female. The thing is that you cant think like that but throwing in genders would 100% cause someone to die (The guy left bleeding from his neck) when the female may have have been able to survive with that injury.

There are people that literally just don't want to risk there lives, or leave everything all behind. Think of people that grow up and have a family down the street from where there parents live. on the flip side you have people that move to different countries because they want something new or maybe there sick of the environment they grew up in.
The whole not being able to just leave from the army may also play a important role. i've thought about it but the idea of me hating it a week in and being stuck there for 2 to 4 years sounds like hell.

"I'm looking forward to dying as a result of this war!" said no-one ever.

At this time the social and political climates are such that reinstating conscription is a nonstarter.

With that said, if conscription were indeed to be reinstated then I feel it should be applied equally to the genders, and without exemptions except for pregnancy or medical disability. No college deferment, no 'critical needs' occupation, nada except for voluntary enlistment voiding the requirement of conscription.

if I werent past the draft age, I'd dodge that all day long. not in this day and age where people can actually find out about WHY war is happening and tell the gov to go pound sand if they want cannon fodder.

I wouldn't count on being outside the age range just yet. We haven't defined the parameters of what the draft age ranges would be.

How about nobody gets drafted? Then everyone's happy.

well, if they're going by able bodied they would try to get me, but no way in hell will I fight in a banker war unless we are actually going to go to war against the central banking cartels.

You could flip the genders or have both the same genders and get the same result. Relying purely on instincts and going for the most vocal injured person could get someone killed. If someone is not trained in first response and triage there's a good chance mistakes are going to happen.

Should mixing genders be a problem in a draft situation, they could fall back on gender segregated units until issues get sorted out.

Fortunately with the way the military is funded and fights in modern times the chances of a draft are pretty remote.

You 'equality!' people realize that attempting to draft women (for combat) will result in a large fluctuation of pregnancies from the large hoards of women avoiding the draft and a bunch of fatherless children right?

Women will sign up for the draft, go through training--but when it comes time to get blown up or knocked up they will make obvious choice. Good job, you also just wasted funding.

Women would have to be drafted for non-combat roles. I would support women being drafted in that manner--it's practical.

Or, we could skip into the sunset and pretend this would actually work until the time comes to implement it.

What are you basing this off of?

What we are doing now seems okay. Drafting is nonexistent and women that do join tend to be in the laid back supply or admin jobs.
Wish I could find a cute navy girl to go out with loool

Reality. Drafting is not something men or women want to take part in. Women have a much easier way out of it because their bodies, can, shockingly bare children.

Why would you go into a Saving Private Ryan scene rather than getting fucked?

Obviously there are going to be some women that would go into combat--but the majority would rather not. Drafting isn't something people go into willingly--that's the point.
