Nah, what I would actually do if the draft happened tomorrow is object to fighting for moral reasons and ask if I can get a non-combat role instead.

I also have asthma anyways, so that might help my case in wanting a non-combat role.

But I don't see the draft happening anytime soon, so I'm not concerned.

Yeah I guess there wont be a draft where you are anytime soon. I mean, whoever heard of a military draft in a yaoi fanfic?

Uwahh that would make an interesting premise for a yaoi manga, people rarely use conscription as a plot device.

I live in the United States.

Doesn't have to be a fabric, it can be its own story, and there are plenty of BL stories with their own world and characters.

Edit: fanfic, darn autocorrect

I'm a decently fit guy, but many others are not. Looking around me I can already see 5 people who wouldn't pass this test you are giving.

The majority of people can pass a physical exam--able. Not that they'd be good at start, lol.

Drafting is, in my opinion, a primitive practice to begin with, not to mention when the threat is great enough people will sign up on their own. However, like most people here, I agree that if you must have one it's best to include both sexes. I'm pretty sure we're already on our way to do that but I could be wrong.

No one should be conscripted, and I would not support conscripting women for any reason.

Besides, it makes no sense. In a devastating symmetric war, a country with equal opportunity conscription stands to lose an entire generation of not only able-bodied males but also females, which would make population recovery after the war that much more difficult.

I don't think anyone should be drafted to begin with, women OR men.

Conscription is often more damaging that simply losing a war. People will volunteer if they believe in the cause they're fighting for, and if no one wants to volunteer, that means they don't agree with the war. Besides, numbers don't matter as much as tactics and equipment. In the Vietnam war, there were only 1 million Vietnamese against 2.5 million US soldiers. The draft certainly didn't help win the war, and if it didn't happen, fewer people would've died on both sides.

On the other hand, I think it'd be a good initiative to have mandatory public service for graduates. In Canada we already require work experience to graduate, it's not that far of a leap.

I also think you should have a 16th grade education . . . for free. (Then you serve your two years.)

If you are a conscientious objector or have religious prohibitions you can serve two years in the Peace Corps....

^This... except also having the option of doing the 2 years before college, and also having having the normal medical exemptions...
