From the south and can't stand it when people talk the way you normally see on tv makes me feel embarrassed to say where I'm from

The many times I've heard this. I kind of think it depends on the topic. The accent doesn't irk me, just the content; if it's ignorant or uneducated, that's when it becomes embarrassing.

erh, i just hate it when Filipinos try so hard to speak in English. They just have this awkward accent that ticks me off.
I mean, I am not against my co-countrymen speaking in English but some of them just try so hard even though they know they can just use our mother tongue ; -; and in most cases, people around me start speaking in English because I usually speak in English. hence why I try to use my native language as much as possible when I'm outside . _.;;;

I remember when the maids and the driver used to force English there they always called me "madam/mam" or "miss" and I would tell them I can understand if they speak to me in Tagalog, they would get scared and mumble in Tagalog. I do find it hilarious when the accent is so thick some of the words sound like something else. EX: paper = pepper, peanuts = penis

When people use addicting instead of addictive. Both are technically synonymous as far as I know...the former just sounds wrong to me.
