I would like to watch Rurouni Kenshin but am prevented by Crunchyroll's region locking.

Geo-blocking is a sad reality more frequently faced by those of us residing outside the US. I hope that in this case it will be felt worthwhile to negotiate for rights for my region, if not to apply leverage to achieve global distribution rights. For all the works.

I'm allowed to have unreasonable expectations, I'm not the one that has to deal with a quagmire of regional licensing and sub-licensing schemes.

I'm in the US but I agree with you. A lot more companies need to start thinking globally, instead of regionally.

For instance, I just got done watching "The Irregular at Magic High School", and wanted to see more magic shows.
I click on the "magic" tag which leads me to a show with a completely blank page.

This comes up time and time again. All CrunchyRoll ever do in response is pipe up saying that they can't force the Japanese licensors to hand over additional regions and they can't drop prices in smaller-catalogue regions without making a loss.

Both true...

But all it ever feels like is that they're hiding behind these reasons to avoid addressing something that people keep bringing up because they're not happy about it.

CR don't want to rock the boat so they have very little motivation to change things for the better.
